Hi friends, there's an email circulating the web now asking for people to boycott specific brands of gas companies. For example, BP and Mobil.

I see some merit in it and would do it.

What I think would be interesting is finding out how many people would boycott a particular gas company(s).

As Exxon is, I believe, the largest in the USA, would you boycott Exxon and all its affiliates to make a statement on the current gas prices?

I would. Would you?

Still am. I haven't bought any Exxon gas since 89.

Absolutely. Something HAS to be done. It seems like a very long time ago - a time when uniting and permeating change was how we formed this great country - but it hasn't been so long ago that we cannot join one another again. With all our differences and all our strife, we are Americans, still. And it's time to stand together again.

    F@%$@CK yeah!

actually, since I rarely ever drive, and barely ever buy gas, I already am boycotting, in a way

Other than the gas I carry with me, I boycott it, but in West Texas, it is a lot tougher than you think.

If you have no options, then by all means use what you have to use. Long term, maybe there's a possible option to go hybrid? Then you will be buying less gas...then again, you wouldn't want to have the only gas station in your area closing down to find that the nearest gas station is miles away.

Those of us who do have options, by all means, boycott.

I haven't bought Exxon gas since the Valdeez spill that they didn't clean up. After they bought Mobile, I cut up my mobile card and have not bought gas there either.

I don't forget about stuff like that.

      You're a trooper ekim941!!

Maybe people like yourself have information that you could share with us to enlighten us on who owns who.

There would be no point people boycotting one brand to find out later that the parent company owns the other brand.

      Keep it up.

Regarding Exxon - hells to the yeahs, but don't they basically own everyone else too? You know all those b-list gas stations and stuff that seem to be everywhere? Who else must you avoid to avoid Exxon?

Want to know something horrific. I did a little digging on my "diversified" 401k portfolio. I'd say 99% of the funds I'm allowed to invest in all have Exxon holdings. Isn't that just basically wrong?

Anok, you got a beef with Exxon over the spill too?

Damn, we got something in common?

I say, boycott them for our rights! :-)

If the collective consciousness got bigger, you know we can make a difference.

    No demand. No business.

The question then is: what are our options?

    I suggest these:
    1) walk more
    2) take public transport
    3) buy a hybrid

    any more???
