I just got done ranting pointlessly in my "blog" about how companies are giving toilet paper the label of "Bath Tissue/Bathroom Tissue" and it brought me to wonder if it ever would really catch on.

Would you be able to start calling it a roll of bath tissue or does toilet paper have a nice ring to it that gets right to the point?

Well it is always toilet paper to me, even translated to Dutch it is toilet paper not something nuts like gloves are translated to "hands shoes" (true fact about the mental Dutch language)
Though about the picture on your blog I am somewhat worried about the name of the toilet paper errr bathroom tissue, 7th generation? That puts a whole new truth and image in my head of the old joke "How do you recycle toilet paper? put it on the cloths line and kick the $hit out of it"

Yeah I kinda gave up on trying to learn dutch one week in. My mouth isn't made for Dutch, French or anything where I have to twist my mouth or spit. Also I can barely speak any Japanese without turning it into a trainwreck.

I'll just stick to English and Latin based languages I guess.

Ah! Afrikaans says "hand shoes" for gloves too. Almost fell over laughing the first time I literally translated it!

My 4 yr old should be Dutch! She is really smart, but she forgot the word for ankle, so she calls it a "foot wrist." She also calls the underside of her leg directly under the knee a "knee pit."

The "hand shoes" thing reminds me of a time my French-Canadian friend (who was wearing shorts at the time,) told me he had to put on his "long-sleeved pants." I nearly busted a gut.

Oh my goodness that is just to funny, the names of the toilet paper!
As for different languages, I had very little problems learning Dutch and it is meant to be the 5th hardest language for an English speaking person to learn because of the grammar, which less face it, I have no bloody clue about . It is German your thinking of that does all the spitting, they always sound rude when they talk.

Eh only reason I even made a one week attempt at dutch was because a friend was learning it. I don't think he was that good at speaking it but hey, Better to be bad when learning something than to not learn at all.

Sooooooooo back to the toilet paper, when you put a new roll on (if you do that as males have braincell missing that makes then forget to replace used toilet paper) Do you have it over or under?
    3. Kryptonitemare
Over. Thats the only right way to do it. I don't get people who do it under.

My husband leaves ONE square of paper on the roll...that way it is not empty and he therefore doesn't have to replace it.

I just call it loo paper. Had fun looking at the photos of the loo paper around the world.

I call it toilet paper. This is kind of off the subject, but I hate it when people call tissues "kleenex."

What I wonder is; do we really need it bleached so perfectly white, considering what it's for & where it's going?

Another, perhaps more telling, change coming from the marketing agencies; we have "prescribers," not "doctors."

Love knee pit! I've grown up with toilet paper or TP. Of course the big question then becomes over the roll or under?
