Money. I'm in college and I haven't learned anything.

I prefer to have a good education rather than having money. Why? Because if you have good education then surely you will have money ;). Money will be able to support you in getting education but eventually it's a different story if you work really hard in getting it from your own hardships.

Sadly having a good education at times doesn't necessarily translate into cash $$$$. I think if you value education you have to at one time just accept that you may be be paid less for it, sad, but true.

My answer is money. I am educated and I know that a good education does not necessarily lead to securing a job. With money I could purchase more education with money, but I know more education will not guarantee me a better job.

I have to agree with you, especially in today's economy; many good educated people working for mega corporations have also been given the pink slip. Job security and education are sort of parting ways

Snorfox hit the nail on the head ... I'd take a primo, kick-ass education - one where I actually paid attention to the courses - so that I'd have ALL the tools to make some serious d'oh, ray, me!

Money! It can buy an education, sure, but education (or the education system) wants you to become a productive member of society so you can earn money. If it's offered to me, and there's no catch at all, I wouldn't think twice, especially if my dream life/job takes place elsewhere and/or requires more specific and expensive training.

money...with money you can be free to spend all your time at the library if you want!

My experience of university was spending vast amounts of money just to be handed a reading list. In 4 years I didn't take a single note during a lecture because they were all useless recaps of the information we were expected to learn in preparation for the lecture, and the students are so against talking in seminars that you might as well be in a room full of toddlers for all the discussion that's going to happen...if you have access to a library it's the same as doing a degree, you just get to study what you want...

That's a good point - if you have enough money, you can get all the education you want.

Well said. That's what I was trying to say above. Money can be used to buy an education.

I must agree, with enough money it gives you more in terms of choices: for example, you don't have to take courses you don't like just so you can "get a well paying job". You'd be able to go to college primarily to study what you enjoy!

One can give money away but just try and give poverty away and see how you do.

    I'm educated but I don't have money.

I blew it all on hookers and drugs.
    1. HDskyline
ba ha ha =) Hookers and drugs = not a very good investment!

    Neither.

I'd prefer to have skills that allow me to do whatever I need or want to do to live happily and comfortably, and an education that actually means something. Neither of which you can get at a college institution.

Neither large sums of money nor stylish brand name educations offer people what they want most. Which is security, comfort, and happiness. A brand name college and a specialized education is only really good for attaining one goal: earning large sums of money. These things mentioned above can only be bought for a short period of time.

So what is the point of educating oneself for the sole purpose of making money, or attaining sums of money if neither will bring you security, comfort or happiness for the rest of your life?

I couldn't agree more! Where's the passion and drive for doing what you do if it all comes down to the material thing- which are short lived by the way.

Both in very small quantities. Enough money so I don't starve to death. Enough education so I can read and write and add up to ten. Then life skills which enable me to get along with people and be self-sufficient and enjoy my freedom.

I'll choose money. I can get a better (wherever)I want to study.
  11. HollytheHousewife
Neither, you can't learn or buy happiness.
    1. dbowles1017
bulls**t. Money can buy a jet ski. Have you ever seen any one not happy on a jet ski? No. It's impossible.

Um yea! The day the repo man comes and picks it up

Money. If I suddenly came into a lot of money, I'd get educated real quick as to how many long lost 2nd half cousins from across the states I have.

      ummm.... BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

    3. Friday13
      Damn right, cousin Becky!
    4. HDskyline
You'll be pressured for handouts by all 13 second cousins, uncles and step grandmas that you never even knew you had === bankruptcy waiting to happen, if you give in to even one of them!
  13. idealpinkrose
money, becoz i studied to get a good job. If I have much money, I don't have to work so i don't need education.
    1. HDskyline
Exactly! sometimes I feel that what I learned in college, some of it was just so theoretical and not really applicable. Some people get a good education: investment bankers, lawyers, doctors e.t.c, but where's the joy in life if you're working 60+ hours a week and really not getting the time off to enjoy all the fruits of your labor!

In a perfect world, I'd really prefer to have an education. You know what they say, knowledge is power, and I've found that to be true.
Only problem is, in today's society, if you don't get the right opportunities or know the right people ... you won't survive without money.

In saying that, it would be nice to win the lotto and work on a project that I'm passionate about without thinking about the financial side of things.

Money...definitely. I think in this world, unfortunately you can do more with tons of money than with tons of education. With money you can buy books, travel, seek and understand if you are so open. That kind of "education" is more valuable than anything Harvard can teach you.
    1. HDskyline
I must agree, if money falls into the right hands (someone who is not selfish and greedy); money can accomplish all the right things and aid to making this world a better place----The person has to be willing to share ( e.x Oprah, Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, Richard Branson, they have given away much $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to charity and education and still they remain w/t more!)
  16. LolitaV
$$$$$ is an explanation really needed?
  17. GabrielGadfly
Education is different from intelligence. With intelligence, you can easily make money -- not so much if you're dumb as dirt, but technically hold a college degree.

So if it's between intelligence and wealth, then I'd choose intelligence. If it's between education and wealth, then wealth all the way.
  18. voodooKobra
I'll take the money and use it to invest in my own inventions. This might sound arrogant, but I'm plenty educated as it is. Anything more is just icing on the cake, but a degree would be nice.
  19. selfstudy
    cool topic.

well a lot of of people did not finish their education but still they managed to put up their own business and have a stable source of income,
  20. win2009
i think in my mind is money coz with more money we can continue with good education, so if we have much money we can do anything include education
  21. funispower
education, i mean who needs a lotus elise, supercharged when you can learn about ferromagnetic liquids/suspensions instead, huh? I mean who 's with me? Huh? eh?
