I agree with what you say, but I still can't help feeling that if you have to write anything at all, you have to view the thing from at least one more perspective than you had before you attempted to write it.

I am not a great writer, nor do I really work hard to make sure that I am up to publication standards, yet every time I sit down to write anything, my horizon seems to get broadened, if only by just a little.

Legbamel, it is as hard for me to believe as it probably will be for you, but many, many people really hate writing. I'm not talking just about people who haven't done much writing and need to learn to be more comfortable with it. I know a number of professional writers who consistently say that they don't like the writing process at all--they like being published and the flexibility of the profession and all that, but don't enjoy the actual writing at all. I strongly suspect that most people to whom writing is a joy have known it since approximately the time they strung together their first sentences or first heard an unfamiliar word and thought they'd found gold.

This is my hope for the hundreds of places to publish yourself on-line: that people will find that writing is a joy and that they will work to become better writers. My inner pessimist tells me that I'm fooling myself but meanwhile I keep offering suggestions on my blog. People who decide to take their writing seriously can use all of the resources they can get!

I agree with you MadameX..
Personally, i can say that i do not know the standards to meet in writing an article..
And the main reason why i joined this industry is kind of selfish as i only want to earn extra bucks..
But as time goes by, i am loving what i am doing and starting to have an attachment to writing..
But i can still say that i am not yet a good writer..

But i am willing to learn...:)

I think that what you say (and Bacon said) is sadly far less true today. The advent of self-publishing, and then e-zines, and then personal websites and then blogs has created a world of writing without editors, without publication standards, and that means that we're not really forced to pay attention to details or look at things from different perspectives anymore. Many people do, and good writing requires it, but it's far too easy to dash off an opinion with little thought and little research and click "publish".

I firmly believe that writing is a blessing. As I spend a lot of time online promoting business and training, a big part of that is writing. While most people wouldn't think of business sales writing as a great emotional outlet or a spiritual blessing I think it is. When I write with passion and authenticity, even if it's about something like money or time management, ultimately I feel like the best version of myself because someone will click something I wrote and hopefully it will help them in some small way. That's a great thing to feel!

When Francis Bacon said that " Writing makes an exact man," he surely wasn't kidding. Writing about something makes us look at that situation from different perspectives and forces us to pay attention to details that we might have easily missed.

So, do you agree with me when I say that writing is a blessing? If you do, then it would be great if you would share how writing is a blessing to you.
