Google earth recently took a satellite photo of a neighborhood in Australia and caught this pic of a man passed out drunk in his yard.
He and his neighbors are embarrassed and the pic was removed.

Photobucket

What's this world coming to when you can't pass out piss drunk in your own yard?

Although you can't always believe everything you hear no matter how reputable the source, I DID see this on Good Morning America this morning.

Google Earth can do it, Yahoo can do it...Bush can do it. Belive the hype.

That has to be a pic taken from an elevated angle and photoshopped. I mean come on ... use Google earth and see if you get this clarity.

some areas have better clarity than others, alexmcone.

I dont know. It looks photoshopped to me. I could be wrong but I have a gut feeling I'm right.

This is called Google Street View for those of you not familiar with it. They drive around in a car that has a panoramic camera mounted on the roof. The imagery it collects can be viewed in the Google Maps application for selected cities.

@alexmcone .. do you have the new google earth API code? It's quite detailed, although - see below (anok) - you are right and this isn't Google Earth.

nor is this the first time google earth had to delete some embarrassing pictures. i can't remember what town it was - but they had to delete a set of three images which showed a guy riding a bike - and waaaaaay wrecking it.

LOL! That does not look like a yard. It looks like the dude passed out on the curb. Hell his feet are in the street. His last few drunken steps prevented the possibility of his being ran over.

I have seen some pretty close up shots on google earth. Close enough to easily recognize the model of cars. I read about a woman who asked Google to remove a pic of her parents taken outside their house moments before they died.

That one was funny! I felt that it was so cool that you ended up getting a memorable pic just before he died and then the whole world saw it too! That was like being famous coz you died. Not a bad deal

not to be bad, but an article at digg rocked almost 1500 diggs showing a whore standing in for customers ! all credits of google neighborhood !

Now they will take pics of me sending my dog to shit on the neighbours lawn. Dang!
    1. calais50
I wanna see that one, lol
    2. drjay1966
That's exactly what it's for--to stop you lawn terrorists!
Actually, a friend of mine a few years ago, had a really nasty neighbor, so she and her dog pretty much killed the guy's lawn. So you're not alone....

This wasn't made by satelite I think. The angle is wrong for that. Maybe one of their trucks who drive through the streets took this one.

The bigger issue is that we are ALL under surveillance. Thanks Google.

Lol! I have Google earth. It's a conspiracy I tell ya. Just like from that movie enemy of the state. The gov't passed a law saying they have the right to spy on you. For "security" purposes of course.
    1. Manictastic
Yea, and 9-11 was the cover-up. It was all in Enemy of the State. The bad guy was born on the eleventh of september, so that clearly was a clue to set everything in motion to take over the western world. But who would want to take over the West? *eyes suspiciously to Russia*
    2. StrawberrySwirl
Either way it's freaky having the gov't see and hear everything you say. They even have a special satellite to listen for keywords, such as bomb, to find if there are terrorist in the country. And about how they tell people to call a special number if the see anything suspicious on the road. Aren't you supposed to be paying attention to the road and not to other people? All I think is to feed into the mass terrorist fear thing.

Seriously though, this is pretty funny and google earth should have kept it on there, I'm sure neighbors and general passersby have digital images of this as well.

Too funny have to be careful where you pass out these days.

... and I was just getting ready to buy lots of beer (two) and pass out on my lawn for my birthday. Hey, everyone stop by and party with me today.
    1. drjay1966
Sure...and I guess I can use google to figure out how to get there...
    2. Theresa111
You found my party on discussions. Thanks!

That may have been embarrassing -- but pretty funny at the same time.

Just wait till it's "live" and not snap shots. Talk about no privacy. Google earth can get very close depending on the location. There are some areas in different countries where nude beaches have very clear shots. It was posted on another forum but of course I had to try it out just to see if it was true, of course.

It says right in the article it is from a google street car:

For at the moment he passed out, Google's Street View camera car was filming in that corner of Melbourne.

So whenever users of the internet mapping tool looked up his street, they saw him.

I too have had enough clarity to see makes of cars and such...

My street address was just goggled at 5.00 am this morning. I then went to goggle and asked them to remove my house. I have not heard back from them yet. But It seems someone was checking out my house it is kind of creepy. Anyone can go to Zillow Real Estate.com and get an estimation of the cost of your home and a picture as well. Who knows what other venues they have for checking us out.

Well happy birthday! How old are you going to be? I live by very conservative neighbors . . . i really doubt any of them ever drink or party so i have never had the pleasure of looking into the neighbors lawn and seeing people P.O.D. If i did i would probably mess with them haha its all in good fun.

Didn't some guy propose to his wife using google earth recently? silly. and google earth or street level or whatever is something we should all be concerned about.
