I think this woman should have her very own forum.

    1st BUSH now PALIN...Good Grief.
I am a firm believer that the world is going to hell.

If the end of the world does come
I want to go to the hair dresser one night before
That way I'll look good on my way out.

Maybe just part of the world?
  3. Linc4Justice
So what do you think about Reverend Wright?
    1. timethief
Not much. After all, he isn't running for office but Palin is so IMO that's why your throwing this "red herring" comment into the thread makes you look silly.
    2. Linc4Justice
And neither is Palin's pastor, dillweed. Really, if we're going to judge Palin based on what church she goes to, why not do the same for Obama his church, epecially since Wright was 20 years his mentor?

Or are you just a hypocrite?
    3. timethief
I'm judging her based on her performance in the videos. I also base my judgment on the calims that Pentecostals make that speaking in tongues, rolling on the floor (holy laughter and holy tears), falling over backwards (slain in the spirit) when pastors touch them, and other such crappola are all signs of a true Christian, who has been imbued with the Holy Spirit to be absolutely outrageous.
  4. Linc4Justice
I for one welcome our Jesus Freak overlords.
    1. timethief
In that case, you have my deepest sympathy. I think that those who profess to be Christians like Palin and who actively support war claiming nonsense like "God is on our side' are hypocrites. I base that on the New Testament teachings of Jesus who abhored violence and, in fact, I find no support whatsoever for war mongering in the New Testament.
    2. Linc4Justice
Don't proceed to think you know what Jesus taught when you've never picked up a Bible.
    3. timethief
I was raised in a Christian fundamentalist evangelical family. I attended and graduated from bible college with a degree. I can recite scripture by rote from 4 different translations. I'm very well acquainted with the dogma and doctrine of both Baptist and Pentecostal assemblies. I was raised on it. So your allegations that I have not read the bible are absolutely ridiculous.
    4. Linc4Justice
And despite all (if it's true) that you still don't have a clue.

Did you forget Jesus used violence to throw people out of the temple? Of that he instructed his disciples to carry swords (though I'm sure you think that was just for show.)

Or that He said repeatedly that He did not come to bring peace but a sword.

The NT also teaches us to support the government and their punishment of evildoers as well, which of course also involves violence.

These facts make your claim of being able to recite from 4 translations and such all the more laughable. I would suggest picking up the Bible and reading it for real this time.

The spin is incredible. Even Todd Harris a top GOP strategist says Palin is not ready

I don't know what it is but everytime a Candidate running for the White House announces that they are a Jesus Fanatic Overlord, they somehow get into office.
    Prime example: President Bush.
    1. Linc4Justice
Clinton was a fanatic Jesus overlord?
    2. Jeunelle
      I said Pres: Bush
I didn't say anything about Clinton.
    3. Linc4Justice
You said everytime a candidate announces being a Jesus Freak they get in. So how did Clinton get in? Hmmm?
    4. Jeunelle
@Linc4Justice...I'm beginning to think you're on crack.
1st of all I'm not speaking about Clinton yet you keep saying I'm speaking about Clinton.
2nd I didn't know anything about Clinton announcing that he was a Jesus Freak.
How did Clinton get in you asked?
How the hell should I know?
What do I look like Miss Cleo? Lmao
  7. Linc4Justice
ttiger: McCain/Palin are going to do things their way, not the media's way. You don't like it, go pound sand.
  8. blogoffanddie
the Democratic Party is a lot like a box of chocolates; you’re never sure where the nuts are - whereas the Republican Party is a lot like a chocolate fudge sundae, they tend to put the biggest nuts right on top.

    Dear God

I have a really big business deal coming up. Could you please let me handle the business deal and you spend a little more time in darfur, latin america and middle east. Please spend time in need with people who are sick and suffering instead of on me trying to make a little extra money and get promoted to a more powerful office.

    praise be your name
  10. gmoney
Obama 20 years going to Wright's church, Palin growing up in the church.

    WOW........ who would jesus bomb?
    1. xmarks
It is less about time in the church but things that person has said. To Palin, every thing seems to be gods will (her words). I find that scary in a president. Belief in god, ok, having god make the decisions . . . not so much
  11. poisonapplesauce
That makes me want to vote for that ticket more. Personally, I would rather vote for someone who has a higher power, because that means that they have something to answer to, something to be held accountable to. When a person has no higher power it's a dangerous thing, because then they are primarily self serving (in general I am sure there are exceptions out there somewhere). I don't see anything disturbing about how she is acting. Well I am catholic and to anyone looking in, it appears to be a cult with all of the chanting, and incense, ornate robes, gold, rights of passages, etc. I think that everyone is entitled to practice their relgion, actually in this country I KNOW everyone is. People are free to have no religion that is your right, but since when is having one a flaw. When Palin knocks on your door trying to recruit you into a cult then I will see a problem, but right now she is not shoving it down your throat, it is a church function, come on now people what did you expect her to talk about? Manny Ramirez leaving the Bosox?
    1. xmarks
Most people I've met who claim to have a higher power actually advocate responsibility for their own actions/inactions to the higher power. I did such and such bad thing but it was gods plan and god forgave me, so I'm going to go do it again. Poeple who are a little less in the zealot fold tend to take more responsibility for their own actions/inactions.
    2. LoveIan
Too many atrocities are committed in the name of a higher power.

Faith can be a moral catalyst or a diffusion of responsibility for terrible acts.

The presence of religious faith isn't a guarantee of anything. You have to look at the person and the situation, not the 'higher power'.
    3. gmoney
So you are saying she is more "christian" than Obama, or because she drops God after every word she is more christian?
    4. timethief
      Ha! ha! ha!
The mental homes and jails are full of incarcerated inmates claiming to be Jesus and/or in special relationship with him. IMO Palin's apostolic claims are right in line with the funny farm set. Jesus did not seek positions of power. He was humble and counseled his followers to do likewise. Palin the pitbull sure doesn't cut it when it comes to demonstrating the humility of Christ now, does she? She has placed her ambition to climb to the top of the political ladder in first place before her family and in my book that makes her morally bereft. She's going to court on a case of abuse of power just prior to the election. America has just experienced eight years of abuse of power by a fellow Christian claiming to be God's special chosen one. How crazy can your nation get before it falls just like Rome did?
    5. poisonapplesauce
@ Lovelan- I completely agree with that statement, I was a supporter of her prior to this thread, and the video's added to her appeal to me.

@ gmoney- I don't think her saying Jesus every word is what one more christian, I think Obamma's policy & views have already made him appear less of whatever his religion is now. QUite honestly, most of his views make me physically ill, like not even kidding. Whenever I see his face, I have the urge to either vomit or play in traffic. Does my upbringing influence who I vote for? Sometimes, but my military service and first hand experience of things are what concreted my vote for McCain. McCain could have chosen Marilyn Manson and I would still vote for him.

@timethief: Oh I agree, she is not very humble. I am simply defending her right to have a religion and it not be counted against her is all. I actually credit blog catalog for making me like her, because had everyone her not put her down so much, I would not have looked in to her. As for the country, yep, I see it failing. I have been saying that for years. Nothing external can touch us, it's the inner turmoil that is killing America. I'll stay with her til the very end, but after that, I have dual citizenship and I will bounce my hiney back to Ireland. I kind of miss it there anyways
    6. gmoney
Wow, well Obama is a Christian and HE did serve his country and as a community organizer. Going to war and being a POW does not qualify you for being president of the United States. It amazes me the reactions that people have to Obama, he is not a bad person has a great family.... and has served the people.
    7. poisonapplesauce
@gmoney- let me save you the trouble, I am a hard headed Irish broad, my mind is made up, has been made up since 2000, no amount of random replies on a forum or over inflated press is going to change my opinion of what kind of person I think that Obama is. "Going to war and being a POW does not qualify you for being president of the United States." I didn't say it did, I said that his military service was my swaying. I said nothing of POW, quite honestly after 50 some years of service to this country in both military service, acting as the Navy liason, the senate and so forth, it it more than qualifies him. I look at people who do the right thing when nobody is looking and it is discovered later, not people who call the media in to go with them so they can see them do the right thing. Palin is who Palin is, McCain is who McCain is, I have yet to see them pretend to be anything but. My opinion, not yours, not really a point in discussing it, I have been discussing it for 8 years and have not swayed.
  12. Jeunelle
It does seem that the major problems in this world goes back to the world's religions and the worship of a God but hey what do I know.
    1. Jeunelle
      @poisonapplesauce...Dual citizenship
You are one smart cookie. I may have to run for cover from this hell hole soon too.
Dual citizenship is looking good to me lately.
    2. Linc4Justice
      What religion does communism follow?
    3. Jeunelle
Oh I'm sorry were you waiting for an answer? cause you'll be waiting a long, long time.

Usually there's a nice, handy cult of personality to believe in.
  14. thefly
There is not one thing I like about Sarah Palin and the more I look into her the less I like her. Im not even sure how to process this church thing. And her hotness can only go so far because the hypocrisy of her party is still very blaring.
    1. LoveIan
I like that she reminds me of Miss Congeniality.

      That movie was fantastic!
  15. mikeny07
Fly, they are both outsiders. If anyone can change Washington it would be them I think. Give them a chance for 4 years and see what they can do.
    1. melindaville
McCain voted on track with Bush 95% of the time. *99%!*

Why does that deserve another 4 years? Bush is quite possibly the worst president of all time--certainly the worst of the last 50 years. That party has had its chance for 8 years. They have failed. Miserably. It's time to move on. Time for *real change.*
  16. kristilinauer
Wow, you're right, what an evil, freak! How dare she pray for God's will to be done in America! Evil, evil woman!

Needless to say, I see nothing wrong that video. She's a woman who loves God and prays for God's will to be done in America. Reminds me of....hmmmm....most of OUR FOUNDING FATHERS!
    1. gmoney
      who would jesus bomb?
  17. clioandme
There was already *at least* one other Palin and Religion thread going here. Please have a look before posting new ones. www.blogcatalog.com/discuss/entry/palin-thank-god-for-obama
  18. mikeny07
Bush being the worst president is only the view on the left though. The right does not feel that way at all. Just the opposite.

Any president that is dealing with a war in their term will not be popular in polls.
    1. gmoney
Where was Bush at the RNC convention? No Bush support, no talk about how great he was, nothing about Bush.... wait there was that video feed and a luck warm reception when it came on.
    2. kristilinauer
G, the purpose of the convention wasn't only to speak to the delegates and the Republican base, but also to sway moderates, undecided voters, and even some registered Democrats.

Of course, the presence of Bush would have been welcomed by the Republican base. His presence, however, may not have been welcomed by the latter three groups, and thus, his absence was a strategic political choice, and a very wise one. But it does absolutely nothing to prove what you're trying to prove, which is that even his own party has turned against him.
  19. mikeny07
Where he should be. He was following the Hurricane in Louisiana.
    1. gmoney
wow he finally got it right one time and his speech was given from the whitehouse
  20. mikeny07
Look at the two from the middle. This is the only way you can be fair and judge who should be the next president.

Everyone has to stay off the hate blogs online. Lets look at the debates they will have and then judge who is most qualified and has the best ideas.
  21. furniture27
This country was founded on separation of church and state. That may be the best decision ever made by the founding fathers. Countries where this is not the process have huge divides amongst their people. Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs, but should we allow that to prevent an economy from moving forward?
  22. ttiger
'pray for a 30 billion dollar gas pipe' LMAO palin is a creep!
why is there a crowd? why are those people so stupid? i cant grasp it.

Then She said " God is going to tell you whats goin on" Gods will will be done"
the religious right are the new fascists and its their party

Bump so more people can see the nuts
  23. rijaxn
Trying to convert homosexuals to heterosexuals through prayer makes about as much sense as trying to convert Sarah Palin's daughter to virginity.

My favorite bumper sticker: "Dear God, Protect me from your followers."

    mtyler,
there are really only two words needed to respond to your claim about bush being the worst president in the last 50 years - JIMMY CARTER
    1. melindaville
Carter was nowhere near as bad as Bush. Nowhere near. And a heck of a lot more honest to boot.
  25. davet
    mtyler,
i think the people spoke in the 1980 election about what kind of president jimmy carter was when reagan won 44 states to carter's 6. if bush were soooooo bad, kerry should have won in a landslide in 2004 too, yes?
    1. voodooKobra
People have this notion that "switching presidents in wartime is a bad idea." Not always.
    2. jan4insight
No, davet. There's unfortunately a lot of people out there who drink the Kool-Aid, and the Repug's are also really good at stealing elections:-P
  26. jan4insight
    I heard this on today's Democracy Now~

    www.democracynow.org/2008/9/9/sarah_palin_and_the_wasila_church

These people are lunatics. I'm feeling that looney-tunes Sarah is a tool for this group of fundy wing-nuts who want to create a religious dictatorship in the U.S., then while they're at it, blow up the world so they can have their end-times fantasy. This totally violates everything I hold sacred, but I guess my spiritual beliefs (you know, peace, justice, respect for the earth, little wimpy stuff like that) have to take a backseat to these utter freakin' fanatics.
    1. ttiger
Palin is a faith healing, speaking in tongues jesus freak...a certified nut case

the world has a lot to fear if the republicans are elected
John Mccaine will not make it 4 years with the stress of the presidency on his 70+ year old body and she will become president
and with the lords will.... shes gonna bible thump america into oblivion

      ...seriously.
obama is not really better..so america is stucked up
    2. jan4insight
@ttiger - agree that McPalin is a terrible choice and "bible thump america into oblivion" - she's a tool for the Dobson crowd.

don't agree that "obama is not much better." there's a world of difference. I don't agree with everything that Obama has ever said or done - that's a logistical impossibility with any candidate, or human being for that matter, but to say there's no difference between McPalin and Obama is to repeat the cynical tone of the last 2 elections that landed us with the Bush Regime.
