Alexa measures traffic. There are no shortcuts when it comes to acquiring a flow of targeted organic (unpaid) traffic to your blog. The foundation for all is publishing high quality original content regularly and effectively promoting it. There are 25 basic steps to take to increase traffic to your blog. The steps are internally linked to "how to" instructional posts. onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2009/01/15/twenty-five-steps-to-increase-blog-tra...-
Thanks again TT for constantly drumming this into the heads of the masses, as that is how one must be when building a good website 'always at it'. You are one of few that understand the real importance of many aspects to running websites and making them really work. The other person that has impressed me is ModelElaine.

Mind you, Alexa is seriously flawed as it mainly measures the traffic by Alexa toolbar users.
Browsing (and editing) my blog from four different PCs (with the Alexa toolbar), every day, several times per day, I was able to keep my rank at 140,000 and better (even occasionally in the top 100K) for several months. I knew it was wrong since 85% of my traffic came from my own country, and the average pageview per user was close to 40, which is quite the opposite of what my stats tell me. I recently decided to uninstall the Alexa toolbar from all PCs above and now my rank has dropped to 1,400,000 which is probably much more correct.
What I am saying is that while Alexa is a great tool for measuring traffic, it's too easy to cheat it and to pretend to have more traffic than you actually have. Quantcast is a way more accurate tool. -
I never liked Alexa, but did place the widget in my footer of all my sites and for PetLvr it shows as 128,920.
Last year, I guess I went through the motions and created a quantcast account and also set up PetLvr. Can you tell me what this means and how reliable this information is?
some stats according to Quantcast:
Rank: 104,651
Monthly Traffic: 17,591 people per month globally of which 12,674 (72%) are in the U.S.
According to my sitemeter, my "unique visits" averages 41,576 per month www.sitemeter.com/?a=stats&s=s22petlvr&r=25
If I understand this correctly - is the average person coming to my site 17591/41576 = 5.76 times each month? Where does quantcast get their demographic information from? (women vs men, education, annual salaries, etc)
