This isn't my all time favorite but I think "reaper" is under appreciated. It is actually a good show
    1. Epicharis
...really? I watch it...but I think it's a bad show! Just a bit of entertaining fluff! Can't say I'd miss it if it was cancelled.
    2. greencurmudgeon
      @siu

And how is all your schoolwork proceeding?
    3. Epicharis
      jeez...stop following me!
    4. greencurmudgeon
      @siu

I'll make a deal with you, the moment you finish your work, that's when I'll stop pestering you about it.
    5. Epicharis
      I don't like deals...
    6. greencurmudgeon
      @siu

That's about as generous as I'm going to get, however.
    7. Epicharis
I can always ignore you, so there!
    8. greencurmudgeon
      @siu

But in that case, you'd lose my respect, because I know what you're capable of, and you know what you're capable of, and what you do should match up with your abilities.
    9. Epicharis
      to which I say: Bleh

      @siu

Here's your ticket to Coventry. Hope to see you some time.
    11. xmarks
I think it is well written and performed for what it is. The devil is a great mafia devil.
    12. Epicharis
That's true...I do love the devil, he's hilarious!
    13. yourfindit
Reaper is pretty bad. I tried watching it a few times, but just couldn't get through it.
  2. Epicharis
Anything written by Aaron Sorkin...he's a genius!

    'Jekyll' was fantastic too...absolutely terrifying!

ooh...and of course some 70s classics 'The Good Life' and 'Yes Minister'

....oh and then there's 'Black Books'...

ok, I'll stop now or I'll be here all day...I watch a lot of tv!
  3. meliwriter
I am in love with Dollhouse. Not everyone seems to like it, but I don't care. I think it's good fun.
  4. dsriharsha
Friends.. by a huge distance to any other TV series
    1. Epicharis
I liked that for the first few series...but then it turned into a schmaltzy soap opera and all the characters seemed to become stereotypes of themselves! The only character I could stand in the end was Chandler.
    2. dsriharsha
well.. they were consistently funny for 10 years which is a big achievement
    3. Epicharis
not for me...but each to their own...
  5. Stillthinking
I LOVED Battlestar Galactica (the SciFi Channel version). LOST and MadMen.
    1. Epicharis
You just reminded me! How could I forget that I was devoted to Stargate! Archaeology, sci-fi and Macgyver all in one! And then it all got a bit rubbish and turned into Farscape...
    2. Stillthinking
Stargate was excellent, but can't hold a candle to Battlestar Galactica. Politics, spaceships, psychotic cylons, massive space battles, mysticism. It had everything.
    3. Epicharis
      I never watched it... *ducks*
    4. Stillthinking
You must watch it! After you finish your paper, rent the DVD's. Start with the miniseries. You'll be totally hooked. Like crazy hooked.
  6. aningeniousname
I'm a big fan of Curb your enthusiasm and I really enjoyed "Rome" when it was on (Even though it was historically inaccurate!)
    1. Stillthinking
Rome was very sexy. I was aggravated at the ending though. Too abrupt. It could have easily gone another couple of seasons. Kevin McKidd is an amazing actor.

I also love the Tudors though it kind of annoys me that Henry VIII has neither red hair nor a giant gut.
    2. greencurmudgeon
      @still

When Henry was young, he was fit, and chronicled playing tennis.

Henry VIII as a young man:

      www.alanflyng.co.uk/HenryVIII14.jpg

But as for the red hair, I agree, they should have gotten that detail right.
    3. aningeniousname
That's exactly why I didn't watch the Tudors. I can accept minor inaccuracies but that was too much.

I liked the woman that played Octavian's mum she was brilliantly scheming in it (Even though Octavian's mum was by all accounts a saint!)
    4. Stillthinking
Yes, Henry was young and hot. But by the time he married Anne of Cleves, he's was bloated, diabetic, and falling apart.

      I read Alison Weir.
    5. Stillthinking
I loved Octavian's mom. I like that actress: Polly Walker. She played her deliciously devious. That cast was outstanding, even though the conceit of English actors playing Italians with British accents was a stretch.

Indira Varma is always a pleasure to watch and was surprisingly believable.
    6. Epicharis
Yeah, they should have tried Latin accents....oh wait...
    7. Stillthinking
I find it amusing that British accents stand in for generalized European people. Except Germans. Germans are always Nazi's and therefore, must "zounds like Zeese."
    8. Epicharis
I think it's because people are speaking English so to speak English with a neutral English accent is fitting...if it was a French drama I wouldn't expect the actors to put on Italian accents while speaking French.
    9. aningeniousname
Think they always use British actors in historical stuff because in Middle America they believe a British accent to be "classy" and it adds a touch more credibility.
    10. Stillthinking
For you it's neutral, for us Yanks it's sounds foreign and therefore, all Europeans in movies speak with British accents.
    11. Stillthinking
Yeah, it has something to do with the "classy bit."
    12. Epicharis
Except...that the language is English and originates here...and while people didn't speak with BBC accents in Ancient Rome, having an American accent feels decidedly modern...nothing ruins historical drama so much for me as an American accent. Even in Lord of the Rings...there's one actor who only has one line, but he has an American accent and it ruins the whole scene for me...which sucks because it's a great scene!
    13. Stillthinking
Which scene? I thought all the actors in Rings were all Brits or Kiwis? And Sean Bean.
    14. aningeniousname
Yeah I agree, especially when it is a recognisable accent like NY or a southern accent.

      Lord of the rings..............geek.
    15. Stillthinking
Oh wait, I think Viggo Mortenson is American (Danish Italian sexy American) and the main hobbit is American, as well as second hobbit.

You're right, Shakespearian fervor does seem to work well with historic drama.
    16. Epicharis
Even Sean Bean conceals his real accent in that film...he's a Yorkshireman but doesn't have an accent in the film. As Anin said...when you can an accent to a geographical location that ha nothing to do with the film it kind of spoils it.

It's not a main LotR character...he's just a groom or something like that...

yeah, 2 of the hobbits are American, as is Viggo, and the Wormtongue guy...There are quite a lot of Australians in the film too.
    17. Stillthinking
I am going to speak with a British accent today as it makes me feel classy.
    18. Epicharis
haha! What kind of British accent? Welsh? Scottish? Devonshire?
    19. Stillthinking
Which ever snooty one Kate Winslet speaks with.
    20. Epicharis

Jonathan Pryce doing the weather with accents
    21. Stillthinking
I rather like Jonathan Pryce's accent. His American accent is quite terrific as well.

*read all that in British, not American*
    22. Epicharis
Jonathan Pryce has a beautiful voice...I think he's Welsh though he has lost most of his accent now. I have a recording of him reading a Shakespeare sonnet...*swoon*
    23. Stillthinking
I have his voice on the soundtrack to Miss Saigon.
  7. Floormodel
all time favorite: Star Trek of course
near recent cancelled favorite: Dead like me
    present favorite: Criminal Minds
    1. Stillthinking
I can't watch Criminal Minds. I am an SVU fan, though I am hearing rumors of Mariska Hargitay's departure.
    2. dsriharsha
dead like me as interesting for a couple of episodes.. but then got boring.. it was the same thing every episode..

the creator of dead like me created another show.. pushing daisies, again interesting for a couple of episodes and then mind numbingly boring.. there is not much you can do with concepts such as those
    3. Floormodel
I didn't like Daisys. It never sparked my interest. I liked DLM because of Mandy P. I'm a fan of his, not a big enough fan to go see his stage show though.
  8. shraqshaq77
What about Prison Break & Scrub? No one?
    1. Floormodel
I'm over-Scrubbed. Too many channels have it on too often. I was
      de-Friended that way too.
WKRP reruns are on on Sundays now, that's a refreshing change from the all Scrubs all the time reruns.
  9. indianhits
    F.R.I.E.N.D.S
  10. tjefferson85
    Tyler Perry's House of Payne
  11. CTVicky
Tough question, I've got loads...Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Scrubs, Bob and Margaret (look it up), Gimme Gimme Gimme, Simpsons, Family Guy, Scrubs!
  12. samhaydenjr
Wife bought me The Wire complete series on DVD at Christmas - just finished Season 1 and I'm totally addicted. However I had given up hope of it ever being on UK Terrestrial TV and then just after I started watching, the BBC started showing it - typical!!!
  13. nataliew
CSI, House MD, King of Queens to name a few :0)
  14. bsilvia
Monty Python, Seinfeld, South Park and Scrubs!
    1. Epicharis
wow...a new kind of spamming...copy and paste someone else's comment and then randomly put your URL in the middle...weird...
    2. Stillthinking
they did this to a couple different threads. Yep, decidedly odd.
    3. Epicharis
I imagine it would work better if they had picked a post that answered the OP rather than a random bit of a conversation...
    4. Floormodel
      extra points for creativity though.
  15. yourfindit
I love Supernatural, Fringe and The Wire (while it was on). Heroes and Prison Break are just messy right now

    Supernatural

    Sleeper Cell
  17. nataliew
CSI, House MD, Fringe, King of Queens and the list goes on and on
  18. shraqshaq77
what do you think of Desperate Housewife? They really desperate did they.....
    1. Epicharis
I watched the first series religiously...then they made me wait a year to resolve a crap cliffhanger in which time I lost all interest in the show.
    2. shraqshaq77
I think, it is among the worst TV series ever,... it's all about sex, desperate and so on
    3. Epicharis
The first series had a murder mystery so it was pretty good...I don't know what it's about now
  19. fikrinne
    varmısın yokmusun?
  20. SweetViolet
I like the CSI franchuse, although David Caruso would not be missed if he suddenly became a victim...

Red Dwarf is one of my all-time favourites. I have the series on DVD. The BBC version of Hitchhiker's guide was great (also have the DVDs). Some old Brit comedies like Waiting for God, Good Neighbours, and To the Manor Born rank high, along with BlackAdder.

Recent faves are Bones, Numbers, Missing, and Without a Trace and, of course, CSI.
