Your favourite whisky

Being a bit careful with money and not actually knowing a lot about whisky my choice is limited by how much I'll pay for a bottle.
Currently, I am enjoying the Glenlivet -12 yr old single malt, Scottish whiskey.
Any offers for a better or alternative drink.

I hear NASA has some good cocktails for its rockets. -
The Macallan or Glenfiddich (Polybore lives quite close to this one) are the Polybore faves. They are similar to Glenlivet so they might be up your street.
Polybore has had a look round the Glenlivet distillery (which is also not far away) it is an impressive operation. -
The only whiskey I ever had was in my TV dinners. It didn't taste too bad. Don't know how it is in the bottle form though. -
The Laphroig tastes like TCP but my lack of appreciation, so I'm told, is down to my lack of good taste. Its regarded as one of the best.
