Do you really believe that someone can make enough money from blogging to earn a six figure income? In the past 24 hours, I've watched various videos on youtube. Some of the people claimed to be making between four and six thousand dollars a month. Do you think that they're strecthing the truth or am I just being cynical?

If you haven't seen these videos please visit youtube and put " make money with blog" in the search. I don't want to call anyone out! lol!

Well I'd love to believe one could make that kinda money blogging. Honestly though....THOSE are the blogs that earn money. No one like me, who writes nice articles about traveling and culture will ever earn that.

I think people earning money from blogs now days are few and far between. With millions of active blogs, it's not possible for everyone to be making money.

There's an interesting related article you may not have read. It's by Lorelle and it's in the Blog Herald. The title is: Blogging Jobs: How Much Are Bloggers Paid to Blog? Here's the link www.blogherald.com/2008/07/15/blogging-jobs-how-much-are-bloggers-paid-to-b...

Interesting article. I've never put a dollar amount on my writing because I actually get a lot of pleasure writing them.

Lorelle's a straight shooter and one of the bloggers I consider to be a role model. I found her article and the comments to be quite informative too. I don't blog for money but I do research and write for money under contracts, so I found the time expenditure figures and the $ figures to be interesting for comparison purposes.

There's more to making money online, than blogging jobs .. it's too bad her article doesn't stress that one paragraph in the middle of it, otherwise I personally think it is a little past its' prime based on outdated rates and standards.

Professional bloggers make money generating content on their own blogs combined with direct and indirect income sources such as advertising, speaking, ebooks, product sales, and consulting.

But - There really is a lot of people making lots of money from online activities, not just blogging (eg domaining, CPA campaigns, affiliate marketing, etc) ... You just have to be sure you realize, it's GROSS figures and not NET figures.

In the YouTube videos and MMO sites - be wary of the people that don't show how much they spend - it always takes money to make money in most times.

I know someone earning on average $850 per day on adsense on a few sites - he claims to spend an average of $500 per day to imply he makes $350 NET per day or over $10,000 per month. I personally think that he has been reaching that target - but it is not a real average to assume $350/day as a fact. I do believe he's spending $500 per day with spend limits, but the revenues fluctuate so much I remember he was saying he made about $1500 in one day (and must have sent about 20 promotion requests around to everybody that day :D).

If that's the case, there has got to be a lot of loser-days to bring down the average.

I could never take that risk to even spend $10 per day, if I didn't make more than $10 back. It's no guarantee. I'm not SEO worthy or have the connections to promote well enough. That's why I never do that CPA spending ... i just don't have the guts to risk that much.

I think you are right on when it comes to having to spend money to make money based on my own experience. My experience is that I have to spend money to make money. I have to pay a small fee to belong to the organizations that have the postings for the jobs I apply for, unless I want to spend hours on free posting sites, wasting my time and internet hours sending out hundreds of resumes and samples of my work, and frequently finding out I'm applying for jobs I have no chance of getting. The employers also have to pay the same small fee to belong to the organizations in order to advertise job openings. That way they are not inundated by a flood of applications from unsuitable applicants.

I also have to have all of the tools required for my research writing jobs, just like carpenters have to have their own tools when they are hired to work on a job site.

LOL I spend a ton of money going to and from Jamaica, just to write my articles. But like I said, I love it and do it for pleasure.

Now if only a major travel channel or magazine would just hire me and pay for my trips, I'd be happy not earning money from blogging LOL.

I believe YouTube can fetch you overnight fame and popularity but I am not sure about the money. It's possible that what you have recently uploaded on YouTube has been viewed Million times but does everyone who's content is viewed by so many people becomes rich? I doubt it. However, I wish there was some incentive for such people after all they are making YouTube popular

it's funny, but I keep meaning to do something with YouTube and find out once and for all. This is constantly nagging me:

      > Do a google search for "HART's Famous Chili" (with or without quotes)

I've probably mentioned that a few times, here, there, everywhere - then one day in a polybore thread I did an animoto video of the images of me making the chili, and some curry chicken with my brother in law - back in sep/08 - and that video is #5 on my search? How did that get there?

"Every time I touch you, I loose control" for hot chili, hilarious.
