Youtube for Traffic, Vimeo is for more for the Hobbyist. Actually 2 weeks ago Youtube passed Vimeo in HD Quality rankings.

Vimeo has better video quality than youtube. I dont think youtube will last as they been losing support from the hollywood giants.

YouTube gets more cluttered and ugly with time. It's the MySpace of video sites, with all those spammy comments (copy this text or you'll die in 10 days, etc.).

Vimeo has offered simplicity (in use and design) and high quality from the beginning.

I just started uploading things on Vimeo, but my friend swears by it. She complains about Youtube pulling your videos without any warning. I was using Revver, until their site disappeared! I had no idea until I looked over my website and saw I was missing all my videos. I had to scramble to get them on Youtube to put them back on my site. Now Revver is back, but I don't trust them.

I don't scroll "you-tube" and am not participatory in their communities so for quality, from what I've seem, I like vimeo. the only thing I ever uploaded to "you tube" I also uploaded to "vimeo" - the process was faster and the quality was better.
You Tube currently just has more stuff.

I use Vimeo for personal usage and storage. You can expect quality, friendly and fast uploading from Vimeo. Supportive and sane comments. Friendly staff.

I consider Youtube as an urban encyclopedia that you can use for reference. You can find old and rare documentaries etc. for study reference. A good channel for entertainment and education. Most comments in Youtube ... IQ trainwrecks.
