What is your favourite animal?

Hi friends and Blogcatalog users!

I would like to make a poll (if you of course don't mind :)). As you already know I am an animal lover. My fave animal is dog and my dog's name is Phiba.

So now tell me please what is Your favorite animal?

At the end of our discussion I'll count which animals are the most popular and write about them on my blog curiousanimals.net/.

In exchange for your opinion I'll rate your blogs on Blogcatalog or add as fave in Technorati, just leave me a links.

I love dogs and cats. Horses are beautiful, but I'm a bit intimidated. They're all so different it's hard to pick. I guess I really love them all.

My blog isn't about animals but I do keep a school of koi fish in a mid-sized aquarium. Watching them swim about has a calming effect. Like watching a ballet.

If I say goats you might think less of me :-)
I have grown up in a small village up into the Greek mountains and used to help my grandfather raising them. Despite common belief they are very smart animals and can become very attached if they happen to grown up being fed by your hands.
Now living in an apartment inside a noisy & traffic filled city (Athens) away from the clean air / sun of the mountains I treasure those past moments ...

I'm back because now I've fallen in love with a little possum. He cavorts with the kitty cats and actually has taken over the food dish outside. The cats seem to be a little afraid which is unusual. He's getting a bit cheeky because I think he doesn't know he's a possum. He visits everyday just after dark. If his food isn't ready, he comes to the patio door, rousts the dogs who tell me it's time to pay attention. Too cute!

So I decided to make an intermediate poll of your favorite animals.
I hope it will inspire you for voting. And some animals will get more than 100 votes, lol. So... Here is this list:

Dogs - 5
Racoon - 1
Parrots - 1
Chameleons - 1
Horses - 1
Pandas - 1
Goats - 1
Possum - 1
Fish - 1

My favorite animal is the Monkey. The funniest monkeys are the chimpanzee. I love watching them in there natural environment where they let loose and just be chimpanzee!

That's funny. Dogs really do know don't they? My dog "tell" a lot. She comes and gets me when I have a phone message (when it's beeping), she alerted me after my kitty cat was sick, she even comes to get me and show me when the cat knocks over a plant or when he's hovering over the fish bowls. She's very busy keeping order.

I love all animals, but I adored my dear cats - Zilla, Penny and Corky. All 3 have gone now, but I think of them every day. They brought me joy and comfort in hard times and I miss them deeply. So, in their honor - Cats are my favorite animal.

Hi Everyone.
I love cats but since raising a few orphaned goats on bottles I became fond of goats. I have 5 goats but 2 I raised since they were a few days old on bottles. Their names are Annie and Annie B. The other 3 are Beard, White Ears, and Little Granny. It is amazing how smart they are how tame also. You can see them on my blog- Life on a Southern Farm georgiafarmwoman.blogspot.com . i like animals. usually no agendas with them. i love those that i have formed a relationship with. we were given a cat, my first, 11 years ago. he is now 18 and i love this cat. and i think about those that were trusted mates. it is interesting to also listen to other's talk about their passion for animals.

My answer is still the dog, and no dog can ever replaced the love of my dead dog. If you do not know if dogs have spirits, you got to believe that there is! This is a great question that garnished a response of 30% from our group member base. Some would say that anything above 10% is pretty good. But this is an animal group being served up a basic question requiring a simple answer. So why only a 30% response?

Putting the results of this survey on Pet Monologues too (do the same on yours) is a goal but at present the response totals - on many animals (1) - feel unenthusiastically low. Maybe ask a friend what they think and let this group know. Or respond if you haven't before.

It's a good question and identifies many kinds of animals = higher awareness.

Has to be the cat. They are beautiful, affectionate, clean so don't need bathing, quiet so neighbours are happy, can be left alone when you are at work, don't need to be taken for walks, bury their poo, don't bite the baby, purr a lot- which keeps my blood pressure down and they live for up to 20 years- that's just off the top of my head!

I would say my favorite domestic animal is Dogs. I have two GSD's now, Abie and Axel, but had a Malamute named Shadow for many years.

Favorite non-domestic animals I would have a toss up between wolves and yes I know their so close to dogs ;-) or eagles. I have always had a place in my heart for the larger birds of prey.
