Blog Promotion
Bit Confused about the aim of most of these Group Discussions

Hi,
I am here to promote my blog, but I am struggling to understand why people just want you to visit their blog.
Yes, I want people to come to my blog, but cos they are interested on it and the issue I speak about, not because I will visit theirs.
I wanted to get constructive criticism about my blog, I was concerned about its name. However, in most groups in this category it will not be this what you get.
Does it help so fundamentaly your google numbers that is worth chasing fake readers?
Does it give you any true satisfaction to see what you have hits, but they probably have not read much and are not interested in what you say.
Please feel free to argue and respont to my rant

hi! in my opinion, the main purpose of letting others visit your blog in exchange for you visiting their blog is to help each other expose your respective blogs. i may ask others to visit my blog, but when i visit their blog, i read it. i am not sure about the others, though. my point is this setup allows people to peek into your blog and decide for themselves if they want to continue reading it or not. if you get a follower out of them then well and good, if not, better luck next time

hey angdakilanglakwats!
thanks for your reply
I thought the same, but have you noticed how people seem to exchange visits
Even the person that reply after you went straight into given the list of her blogs, and completely ignore what we were discussing.
I would love for my blog to be read by people, but I dont think any of these people are interested
however, i must read yours, as I appreciate your honesty and the time you have taken to read my long rant

The thing is if no-one knows about your blog, they can't read it. If they can't read it, they won't know if they like it. And it's not easy for your blog to appear in general searches, so to get casual hits is like almost impossible. So the aim of all this mutual exchanges is to try and move our rankings up a little on searches and the like. I'm here: acliltoclimb.blogspot.com
Interesting place to hang out & learn something at the same time!-
I kind of understand that, but really with the thousands of blogs created daily I sometimes wonder if getting one or two hits are really going to help in search engines.
Of course I want my blog to be read, but are this people really reading my blog, and more importantly will any actually have interest in what i write.
However, after reading some of the replies to this discussion group, including yours I feel that some people may actually think like me, at least partly, and take time to read things.

I love the irony of the people who posted, okay, the one person, who didn't engage in discussion but left their site addresses!
I agree with you, I want regular readers. I think a lot of people want traffic to increase their hits so they can do better on websites they have monetized. If you write for the sake of your content, it makes more sense to me to engage in discussion with like minded people in order to build community.
Community will let you return visitors more so than "Hey go read my blog." My two Lincolns...

I rest my case, that girl/woman is just exactly what i am talking about
however, i feel, after the replies i am getting to this discussion group that there are people on the same wave lenght.
I agree with you, content is the most important thing, and i am writting this as my dairy, that i will be able to check once i finish the trip...and yes there is a vouyeristic side of me that likes to be read.
Meeting new people through this community of bloggers is one of the aims. -
wow, i liked the blog, am i right to say there are only three posts...or have i missed some link
i really like the straight forwardness of it
i have tried to sometimes deal with personal issues, but i am not very good at talking about them
i think the closest i ever got was on this post.
if you got time and patience, i would appreciate your feedback
