A giveaway can be an amazing way to promote our sites & create a buzz. Even a small giveaway gives us something to talk about (or to expand on) & definitely gives readers a reason to visit & most likely return. Who doesn't like winning free stuff, right? That being said, there's still a discussion.

What's the right thing (for you/ your blog) to give away? Should you find a sponsor? And, where do you go to market...let the whole world know that if they just visit your blog, they have a chance to get something for free? You could be giving away bricks of gold but, if no one knows about it...

It's my first giveaway and these are the questions I've been asking myself. I think giveaways are definitely a great way to promote your site...if you know what you're doing.

Two days after my giveaway started (despite my many readers) only 10 people had entered. On my third day though, after I learned a little bit about marketing a giveaway, over 200 had entered.

What's your opinion? Sound like a great promotional tool? Or, not worth the hassle? What would your marketing strategy be?

PS-My giveaway is for a $675 Designer Handbag! There are lots of ways to enter too (I also list other giveaways & will sponsor/ help anyone promote theirs as well!)
