In Matthew 6:9ff Jesus teaches us how to pray.

I find that what he teaches us challenges some basic, and often unspoken, presuppositions of the modern Christian.

The contemporary believer believes that God is concerned about spiritual things primarily; things like prayer, going to church, looking forward to heaven.

Jesus does start with a spiritual thing when he teaches us to pray. “Our father in heaven, hallowed be your name.” He starts with worship. He starts with looking to the eternal God who is over everything.

But then, before going into seeking forgiveness, reconciling with your neighbor, seeking provision, etc. Jesus drops a bomb on us: “Your Kingdom come, Your Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.”

When was the last time you prayed that in your “quiet” time?

Do you even know what the implications of such a prayer are?

God would not tell us to pray something unless it is something that He Wants, Intends, and Can Do!

So… God wants His Kingdom to Come on earth in the same way that the Kingdom is in heaven!

How goes the Kingdom in Heaven? Completely! Perfectly! In Every Area!

So God is not only concerned with getting us into Heaven. He is interested in His Kingdom manifesting in the earth right now. Obviously, that starts with individuals being eternally reconciled to God; but it goes way beyond that. It involves things to be done on earth as they are done in Heaven. It involves God’s ways salting, lighting, and yeasting this current world!

I have spent most of my life concerned about eternity. I don’t intend to give up that priority. I am, however, becoming increasingly aware that God is doing something now as well.

What do you think?

I have posted in my blog an article entitled "Elements of A Good Marriage". You can see the article here:
http://thedisciplers.com/elements-of-a-good-marriage/
(please don't forget to subscribe to my blog, for I will be posting more articles in the future that we can discuss here.)

My question is, what do you think are the other things that a husband and wife should do to make their marriage work?

Statistically speaking, even in Evangelical churches in the States, there are about 60% of marriages results to divorce. This is a moral issue that Christians itself has to face. Your opinions will be a great help. Thank you!!!

I have noticed that American Christians are often convinced that according to the Bible the world is going to get worse and worse, not better.

I am deeply concerned about this perspective that it will (and has) led to fatalism amongst Christians.

When I think of the Children of Israel crossing the Jordan I see a God who wants to GIVE us the land. When I remember Daniel's prophecy about a Rock that Strikes the Statue of this world's kingdoms and yet itself becomes a Mountain that fills the whole earth, I see a God that is making things BETTER.

In fact, I am concerned that quite possibly an overemphasis on the "end times" and the world getting "worse and worse" has caused Christians to remove themselves from being Yeast in every area of society.

In short, Christians are abandoning the field and yielding to wickedness due to being convinced that change and progress are not possible, we just need to wait for Jesus to come back.

So I offer a challenge to all to RETHINK that point of view. :-)
Being who I am and what I know I feel like it should be run on a homestead type area with a focus on stewardship and sustainable living.
When I was a pastor my greatest joy was getting together on Mondays with fellow pastors and just being ourselves.
I feel pastors never have a place to unwind and be themselves. We could provide that at the retreat.

Today I have a challenge for you....

Christ gave us all a directive, we are to spread the good news to the ends of the earth. Well here is your chance to go out and change someone else's life.

If your mortgage company called you and said they had forgiven your loan would go out and tell everyone about that company. I believe you would be so excited you would wear the T-shirt, the hat and stop people everywhere just to tell them. Why not have that kind of excitement for what Christ did for you. He gave his life on the cross for you, which is so much more.

So here is the challenge...

Go out and interview people for Christ and then write about the encounter on your blog. Use your blog to reach the world around you with the gospel.

Go to my blog -- I have a more detailed post about the challenge. beaboutyourfathersbusiness.blogspot.com/

Our blogs are the perfect opportunity to reach a dieing world.

Today I called on a friend who owns excavation equipment to come dig out my driveway as we had almost 4 feet of snow. This would have taken me days to finish with a shovel and he had it done in 20 minutes. When he finished I got my wallet out ready to pay him and asked him what I owed him. His response set me back and made me think about documenting this whole thing in a post. He said, “You don’t owe me anything!” I told him that I really wanted to pay him and was able to without any problem and he still insisted that I didn’t need to, saying “I know that you will help me out down the road when I need help in return.” Why did this response set me back so much? It set me back because this is against everything in today’s society. We are all about living in the present, making money, spending our time and our resources on ourselves. In the scheme of things, he only spent 20 minutes helping me but it meant so much more than that!

As a result, I can’t help but wonder what would happen if all of us took this same approach and the same mentality going forward. What if we looked for an opportunity to help a friend, neighbor, or a complete stranger. What if we were INTENTIONAL about finding an opportunity and helping with no motive other than wanting to help a fellow human being. Is this not the purest example of Christ’s love for all of us?

As a result of being helped I am now looking for an opportunity to pass this feeling along to someone else in need. So, here is a challenge for you. Be INTENTIONAL about looking for this sort of an opportunity around you. This doesn’t have to entail a huge time commitment, but can have a truly powerful impact on someone. It could be shoveling a neighbor’s snow, buying groceries for the homeless, donating your time serving others, this list could go on forever. Whatever IT is doesn’t matter as much as the act of service actually being completed.

I know that a lot of you may read this and think that it is a great concept or even think that maybe you should do something like this where you live. The true test will be how many will actually be INTENTIONAL about doing it? For those of you that accept this challenge, post your stories in the comment section. Let us know what you did, how it was recieved, and what sort of an effect this excersise had on you! There is no better time than now, no better person than you, no better place than right where you are! Stop procrastinating, stop making excuses, make someone’s day and you will experience the true meaning of Christmas!

To email this challenge to a friend, small group, etc. copy the following link into the body of the email!

TELL EVERY ONE THAT I HAVE ANOINTED TO FORGET THEIR POVERTY.

13Th Nov 2008

On the 13Th of Nov,I had the following experience:

I saw a group of young men testifying. Some testifying that they got new jobs in an oil company and others of promotion in their places of work. Then I saw one with the appearance of a man from the alter region of a church making a kind of announcement and at the same time saying something to one of THE THREE who was behind me also co-ordinating the whole thing, and organising the people, the congregants behind me.I did not understand what it was that He said or seemed to be saying to Him.But i could see that they were communicating.

Meanwhile beside me by my left side, was ONE OF THE THREE who seem to have an appearance that kind of looked like that of a woman(Some of these things are very difficult to explain or should i say articulate).Who was organising the women in a straight horizontal line before me.

Then I had THE ONE behind me say TO THE ONE beside me who was attending to the women:

TELL EVERY ONE THAT I HAVE ANOINTED TO FORGET THEIR POVERTY.

As i could see, some people had already been anointed while others were waiting for their turn.An interesting thing about this is that christian people who though they were born again, but did not belong to this particular church were kind of skipped. While I wondered inwardly why ,still standing there ,I got the answer also inwardly without words spoken by any body, but just some kind of inside knowing that-:

YOU NEED TO BE A MEMBER OF A LOCAL BODY,CHURCH ,TO PARTAKE IN THE WAVE OF THE BLESSINGS THAT IS ALREADY BEGINNING TO HAPPEN IN THE BODY.

When I came to myself and While I pondered on this, the Lord said to me to WARN my sisters,my lone brother(by blood in this case) and other loved ones that I have been praying for to get IN LINE.They have to get into and belong to a local church body if they want to partake of this.If they (and He said to me including you,the writer of this) refuses to get IN LINE,they (and myself inclusive) will be passed by.
{I personally think that you should do same with your loved ones as well}

INTERPRETATION:

(1)
SO THERE IS COMING :
a.JOBS
b.PROMOTION
c.INCREDIBLE FINANCIAL BLESSINGS. TO THE PEOPLE OF GOD.

(2)
WOMEN,SISTERS I.E SHOULD GET READY FOR INCREDIBLE FINANCIAL BLESSINGS,SINGLES,YOUNG MOTHERS ETC.

(3)
YOU NEED TO BE A MEMBER OF A LOCAL BODY TO PARTAKE IN THE WAVE OF THE BLESSINGS THAT IS ALREADY BEGINNING TO HAPPEN IN THE BODY.

(4)
'TELL EVERY ONE THAT I HAVE ANOINTED TO FORGET THEIR POVERTY'

Is important to HIM that HIS people be TOLD and so am endeavouring to deliver that message to you and please do same and He will bless you for it.

(5)
WHILE THE WORLD IS CRYING NOW,THERE IS CO-ORDINATED ACTION OF THE TRINITY THAT IS TAKING PLACE SUBTLY.I REPEAT,A CO-ORDINATED ACTION BY THE TRINITY IS TAKING PLACE.

(6)
GET IN-LINE,ALIGN YOURSELF WITH A LOCAL CHURCH IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE PASSED BY.

(7)
ANOINTING STANDS FOR SEAL OR STAMP,DIVINE SEAL.SO WHAT THE HOLY SPIRIT IS SAYING IS THAT YOU AS A CHILD OF GOD NEED TO ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE THAT SEAL,THAT COVERING IN TIMES LIKE THIS

We will be coming back with more interpretations and analysis of what The Lord is saying to the body of Christ IF the Lord permits. But remember that interpretation belongs to God,so let the Holy Spirit help you apply it to your own peculiar circumstance.

I heard a teaching by Tom Marshall yesterday. He was talking about the Zionists who wanted to begin Israel anew back in the 30s and beyond. They had a "shadow government" where they talked and planned for the day they would be leading their own country Israel. They were dreamers! They had a vision!

I have noticed that Americans are so convinced it is the end times in many cases that they don't have a plan for what to do if God gives them dominion.

Do you believe that God could give Christians dominion in America again? Are you ready and interested in government and other areas of society if instead of destroying America, God gives us a chance to bless America?

I often wonder if American Christians aren't inappropriately obsessed with "the end times." The result? Christians escape the world instead of intervening. We leave this planet and it's people to the influence of the Devil himself! Except for trying to get people "saved" we become irrelevant.

Here are some thoughts from Dietrich Bonhoeffer:

"It is wiser to be pessimistic; it is a way of avoiding disappointment and ridicule, and so wise people condemn optimism. The essence of optimism is not its views of the present, but the fact that is is the inspiration of life and hope when others give in; it enables persons to hold their heads high when everything seems to be going wrong; it gives them strength to sustain reverses and yet claim the future for themselves instead of abandoning it to their opponents. It is true that there is a silly, cowardly kind of optimism, which we must condemn. But the optimism that is willing for the future should never be despised, even if it is proved wrong a hundred times; it is health and vitality, and the sick person has no business to impugn it. There are people who regard it as frivolous, and some Christians think it impious for anyone to hope and prepare for a better earthly future. They think that the meaning of present events is chaos, disorder and catastrophe; and in resignation or pious escapism they surrender all responsibility for reconstruction and for future generations. It may be that the day of judgment will dawn tomorrow; in that case, we shall gladly stop working for a better future. But not before."

Is anyone else concerned about this?

My guess is that most of the members of this group have written off the world. What do you say>

What about "Discipling the Nations?" What about the "rock that struck the statue and itself became a mountain that filled the whole earth?"

Come on. What do you think?

James Madison:

...In the former sense, a man’s land, or merchandise, or money is called his property. In the latter sense, a man has a property in his opinions and the free communication of them. He has a property of peculiar value in his religious opinions, and in the profession and practice dictated by them . . . He has an equal property in the free use of his faculties, and free choice of the objects on which to employ them. In a word, as a man is said to have a right to his property, he may be equally said to have a property in his rights. Where an excess of power prevails, property of no sort is duly respected. No man is safe in excess of liberty, the effect is the same . . . Government is instituted to protect property of every sort . . . This being the end of government . . . Conscience is the most sacred of all property; other property depending in part on positive law, the exercise of that being a natural and unalienable right . . .

In light of this, let's discuss how the Ideas of the Bible relate to Property! Your thoughts?
