Hi all,

You may notice a lot of Christian language, but that's because of my background. I'm also into Zen and Taoism. The blog is basically about my journey and a few lessons I'm learning ;)

New survey states more Americans claim no religion'

There was a recent survey done by ARIS which claims that more Americans (15% of us) do not claim a religion. Here is a summary of the survey.

As this group grows how will this impact the sociopolitical issues facing America? Will the Religious Right have a distinct secular political bloc to contend with in future elections?

I personally believe that Catholicism will take off during the next decade as the Hispanic population grows. We might even see the first Hispanic Catholic President take office.

This discussion doesn't have to be purely political, but I would like to discuss what and how this affects religion in America.

(Sorry for the multiple discussion postings. I'm not trying to be a discussion hog but I would like to see more interesting discussions on BlogCatalog.)

Meditation for Beginners '

I posted this on the general forum and thought it might be more appropriate if I kept my religious discussions here.

I've sure this has been discussed before and I have collected all the relative links in the past discussions. I am interested in Meditation but would like advice on how to start. I would like to hear what has helped you when you began meditating. I'm sure there are plenty of different methods but I'm looking for just the basics, a starting point. Books, links, and any other advice would be greatly appreciated.

Religion 20XX'

What will the future hold for Religion as our scientific knowledge of our Universe increases? I do believe that Science and Religion can coexist side by side but I wonder what their relationship (if any) will be in the future.

Will any new Religious thoughts or revelations emerge ushering in a new Axial Age?

Will it be pushed completely to the side?

Will we see a blending of Religions as illustrated in Frank Herbert's Dune novels (Zensufism, Mahayana Christianity)?
