"ECOH!" for Post-materialism

Hey, I just reviewed this book on sustainability from a large-scale (i.e., state or nation) level. Wondering what everyone thinks. You can read the review here: newgreatbooks.blogspot.com/2008/06/roadmap-towards-sustainability.html

I'd love to hear opinions.

  1. Hi, Peter,

Thanks for the review. I've never learnt sustanability theoritically, though realised how important it is for facing at a limit to develop economy by selling as much as possible as an advertising professional in Japan. I got intuitive understandings, therefore I may not understand about how to guide people who were accustomed to materialistic life. However, I saw a report on Yahoo! Japan yesterday that says the most effective way to maintain our environment is to get our lifestyle back to past. The survay that asked to Japanese what extent can be gone back lives showed men can allow it for 2000 and women 1990. What is the merit for further progressing lifestyles, I think for living in so-called one of the developing countries, Philippines, now. Primitive life it may be from the point of majority of Japanese, though I am sure I am rather happy enough here.
