Home and Garden

Hi all. I bought a variety bag of mixed tulips a few years back. There was one type of tulip that has very pointed petals and it is the most remarkable tulip. I have searched locally and cannot find more of these. Have any of you found a good source for tulips?

  1. Hi DaniG,
Follow the link below to find 80 pages of tulip varieties. It's a Dutch site (of course ), but once you've found the right photo you can Google the name to find where you can buy it locally. Hope this helps!

First click 'selecteer alles', then 'zoek'.
    1. Kobus1, thanks for replying. There are gorgeous tulips there. If I cannot find what I am looking for on that site, I'm in deep trouble.

      Happy gardening! D.
    2. Hope you'll find it. There's so many there it could take hours to browse through all! Doing a quick scan I saw several with pointed petals already. I even found the name of my own 'mystery' yellow tulip I posted about here:

I think it's the Royal Elegance.

You know breeding tulips is a true science here. I even saw one that has the name of a university: Wageningen.
    3. Kobus, I went onto your site - great site, but the way - and offhandedly I clicked on the ad on your site for bulbs direct. That one has a pink one almost identical to the one I'm trying to duplicate. It is beautiful. Now, my husband and I are going to have to decide which color, then I'll go back onto your site and order them there. I know a lot of people argue about having ads on sites, but I really like that - it makes it easy for me to get excited about something and have immediate access to getting it - right there!

Don't know a thing about breeding tulips. Maybe I'll take out a candle and some romantic music and try to get that beautiful pink one to breed. Then, my garden would be full of little pink ones in the spring! Hahaha! (Bet it doesn't work that way...)

      Thanks.
  2. That's wonderful. Hope the ad will be the same when you return - doesn't have to be so...

But anyway thanks for doing that. You helped me make the spectacular amount of 0.23 cts Euro. Those ads are really not a blogger's goldmine and it takes years to reach pay out for most of us, so every little bit helps and is much appreciated.

Really glad I could help you find a bulb. Don't forget to let me know when you have pictures of your spring garden on your site!
