I hear many people say they can't visit Jamaica, because of all the violence.

Is it too violent for you to visit?

  1. People always say that to me too, right before I go on another trip to JA. I agree the escalation of violence is unsettling but it will never make me stop going.
Its not too violent for me to visit, I'll never stop going. And I hope that by my frequent visits and by posting the positive things about Jamaica in my blog, that people will continue to plan trips to Jamaica. There's more to that beautiful island than just violence and corruption.
    1. Thank you for putting a positive spin on the island
  2. Any time! And no, LOL I don't stutter. I re-read my answer above and noticed I repeated myself hahahaha.
  3. This is a concern that I have heard many times as well. I even have Jamaican friends that are afraid to go home! I think it will only stop the people interested in the superficial Jamaica who want to go and get drunk on Red Stripe and dance (badly) to reggae. People who are truly interested in the culture will never stop. Jamaica may have violence but so do most major cities around the owlrd and it never stops people from visiting.
    1. Great response Far. I think you're right about that.

I hate to say it but because I am caucasion I think I'm less succeptible to violence in Jamaica too. I might be MORE likely to get robbed though. Its all about being SMART! I live in a huge city in Canada and you wouldn't catch me walking around in certain areas here either.
  4. I live in one of the most violent areas in the United States but still I live here because I love the area. I feel, like you, violence is everywhere and if you go back a yawd...flaunting and flashing your jewelry and showing off, then you are making yourself a victim.
