I love all genres of movies. One of my guilty pleasures is mafia / organized crime movies. On my blog blendetta.com, I posted a list of my top 10 favorite organized crime type movies: www.blendetta.com/2008/04/list-top-10-favorite-organized-crime.html a few months ago. If you decide to check it out, please don't send me hate mail that the Godfather wasn't included - I went through that already when I first posted the list!

I have so many! But one film I really liked because it consists of levels and levels that could be uncovered as you watched it is "The Fountain" with Hugh Jackman
-
No I have never heard of it either. After being out of the business for a while you tend not to hear the same news or updates anymore.
I know it's corny but Armageddon is up in my top 3 along with Man on fire and Rocky 4. -
yep, i've recently seen this pretty little film and i liked it. so here's the link for the post on my blog. there you can also read about my opinion and leave yours
but i wouldn't define it as my favourite.. hmm- it's a bit hard to answer 'cause it depends on the genre. i adore 'wristcutters - a lovestory', a kind of roadmovie which is an in-depth but also funny lovestory with well-acted characters.
and of course 'waking life' directed by the brilliant richard linklater (hm- i adore many of his films, e.g. 'before sunrise' or 'a scanner darkly').
but my question to you, mr. john darko- which one is your favourite?? (.. a bit curious meanwhile

ah, sh.. sth was wrong with creating the link, so please just copy this: rosas-magic-carpet.blogspot.com/search?q=the+bands+visit
and i've forgotten to mention 'into the wild', directed by sean penn, who for me is one the most charming actors, full of charisma and expression.
what do you think about the films by alejandro gonzales innaritu (21 grams, amores perros..) ? (..hard to find an end..

Into the Wild was on a short list for my favorite films of 2007. It's right up there with There Will Be Blood, No Country For Old Men, Juno and The Assassination of Jesse James!
Amores Perros, I thought was superb and quite visceral - one of those films you just can't say anything bad about. 21 Grams was equally amazing - not a huge fan of Babel though. I love the people Alejandro works with as well.

I saw The Band's Visit this weekend -- it was excellent. My favorite two current writers/directors are:
Christopher Nolan -- I love the new Batmans, but I love Memento even more. The Prestige, Insomnia -- he hasn't made a bad film yet.
Guillermo del Toro -- The Devil's Backbone and Pan's Labyrinth are two of my favorite films of the last 10 years. -
Some of my favorites:
Adaptation
American Beauty
Before Sunrise
Before Sunset
Closer
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
