Musical Blogs

My blog ( www.jimmyshelter.nl ) is mostly about the gigs I go to. I'm into all kinds of rock music, but garage rock, garage punk and hardcore punk are the genres I love the most.

If I like a band, I'll post about them too, with some mp3s, and links to their webpages.

  1. I usually blog about our new releases etc.
  2. My blog is about jazz, from jazz sax (my axe), to developing skills as an improvisor, to various artists.

I also blog about storm chasing. In my mind, somehow, jazz and storm chasing go together. One of my life goals is to get a photo or video of me playing my horn out on the Great Plains while a big tornado boils away a mile or two in the background.
  3. That would be a great image!
  4. i blog about our unsigned, unappreciated, unpaid, unrepentant band. it's about taking ourselves very seriously and at the same time taking the p*#s. know what i mean ? most of the music blogs i previously read were about famous, rich and established people. nowadays i am more interested in people who are just doing it anyway. because they love it. and because they have something to say. in older times (!) that's what music was about. passion not profits.

    1. I don't blog about these bands, but blog for them. As the title is "how to start a band and market it", I offer tips and advice for new and starting bands in terms of band promotion and advertising strategy. If you have any advice, let me know.
  5. I blog about anything I like which could be just about anything.

  6. I blog about whatever I'm listeneing to or whatever gigs I'm going to. I try and give coverage to bands people won't have heard of, bands that are playing pubs and clubs, and both need and deserve the coverage.

  13. I'm a composer, so I like to blog about composers that I've checked out, or those that I'm interested in. I even write a few posts about musicians, songwriters, or even rock bands, since I draw a lot of inspiration from contemporary music. The style I compose is heavily related with these contemporary forms. Recently, I've been getting heavily involved with electronic music like trance, mostly because I'm interested in their active baselines and heavy percussion.

Samples of my own music (some of which will be released on an independent album in the future) is also available at the site.

I'll be sure to check out your sites as well!

I blog about my experiences listening to a different Beatles song every day. I'm a longtime fan, but it's so easy to take the Beatles' music for granted when it's all over pop culture, so I'm going back to listen with fresh ears. There's video in every post so you can listen (and watch) too.

And news updates, that sort of thing.

    officetang.blogspot.com/

I "abuse" twitter as a way of logging the play log so that artists can see when their track played or people looking for stations that play a given song can find it. (sometimes I wonder if that was a bad idea.. it's noisy and unidirectional)

The blog is where I post updates.
