Hill-Stead Nature Blog'

I work at a museum, Hill-Stead Museum, in Farmington, CT. We have 152 acres of hiking trails as well as formal gardens. There is an amazing amount of wildlife. Wildflowers, insects and a fabulous list of birds. With all the rain here in CT the landscape is really changed this summer. We have fewer fledglings, insects (like butterflies and fireflies-plenty of mosquitos). Our bat population has been decimated by White Nose Syndrome. But, the plants are lush and have grown more than a seasons' worth in just a month! Great to have this forum available.

I've been blogging on Nature since early 2007. I focus on what I see. I travel throughout Ohio for work. I get to visit some of the best habitats in the state. Also, my in-laws in Maine own a fabulous pond, bog, swamp and woods that my wife and I visit often.
