Personal Blogs
For Pete's Sake! Will the REAL bloggers please stand up?

I'm a blogger...a serious one who writes about all the goofy things I observe in life from a decidedly 'southern woman' point of view and I visit blogcatalog.com to find other people who write other light humorous bits (because in our world today we are sorely in need of a few more laughs)
BUT 97% of what I see is 'add me, I'll add you' type comments or people hawking 'buy this or that' pseudoblogs and it's really frustrating!
Are there people out there who are genuinely blogging because they like to blog? Writers who want to express themselves? Artists who want to share their vision? Poets who want to offer their words to others just because they can?
Tell me...are there bloggers like that? Heck, I don't even care if it's 'funny' or 'serious' (as I've been known to be 'serious' in my blogs from time to time because that's how life is).
If you are a serious blogger, please let me know and I will visit your site but if you say 'yes' and I take time out to click on your little link only to find it litered with ads for 'genuine leather handbags' I'll be sorely disappointed.
Thanks. L Avery Brown...a real writer/blogger.

Looked at your blog. It's very interesting. I think that like all good things, it just takes time to find good personal bloggers that fit your interests. I wish you luck in your search though!

Hi there... I blog because I love to blog.

Hi! I definitely understand how you feel! I promise, however, that our blog is the real thing: a collection of the thoughts, hopes, fears and memories of 4 women in 3 generations of 1 family.

And I love your blog, too! -
Definately real here. I am from Australia, in the US now with an American husband and 2 little girls (both with their own life challenges) I write about the funny and different things I experience after 16 years of being in the US, and moving to 6 different states, sometimes about growing up and things I experienced then that I can relate to things now. I write about home, family, travel, kids, pets, career ..sometimes I can be deep and philosphical, but mostly its light and fun.
My creative blog is newer, but its focus is on art and scrapping, other stuff like that.

Hey there,
I like to think I have a real blog, though I don't update it as often as I should. Feel free to stop by and see if it's what you're looking for! Just a few comments on things that come across my path.
I enjoyed your writing style- will come back over to see more of your blog!

My blog speaks for itself www.goddessdionna.blogspot.com
I am now following your blog as goddessdionna. -
We’re there, we just don’t chat a lot. I’ve all but abandoned Blogcatalog as a source of interesting people and writing. My in box is filled with the “show me yours and I’ll show you mine” contacts, I rarely bother to answer anymore. Today is the first visit for a very long time; don’t know why I came back.

My blog is quite real, "the single girl and the city", my take on relationships, fashion, sex, etc., ala Carrie Bradshaw.

Check it out if that sounds interesting to you!-
Thanks so kindly for responding to my discussion! I visited your site and really enjoyed it. As I said in my rating of the site it's witty and a bit tart! Great! Happy blogging to you and I hope you get a chance to visit my site (of course it's not quite 'tart' but it is rather witty at times!)

Thanks so much and thanks for taking the time to reply to my discussion! I agree whole heartedly about the ridiculous nature of the 'adhog blogs'...(hey, I think I just coined a new word!).
Thank you for leaving your blog address. I shall visit it straight away.
And again, thank you!
Cordially, Avery.

Angelina thank you so much for taking the time to respond to my discussion thread! I tried to click on your site but could not make my way there. However, I do plan on trying to visit a little later to check it out. I love blogs, REAL blogs, of all types and I'm sure that I'll enjoy yours, too!
And thank you so kindly for the comment about my writing. I love words and expression through them and I hope to be able to write until the day my fingers fall off!
Again, much thanks!

Hello Avery, I'd been asking myself the same question! My circumstances are far from ideal, so I prefer not to focus too much on myself as a subject. I look instead for joy, fun and laughter where I can find them. I blog about anything and everything that interests me. This could be my lovely, hilarious neighbours (I live in France) or a book of poetry that I've loved; it could be about politics (I was born and bred in England & spent most of my life there), or music. Or it might be a funny-after-the-event account of how my ****** electricity's on the blink for days on end!
Will shut up now and visit yours.
All the best,
Min xx-
Phidelm,
Thank you so much for taking a moment from your time to reply to my discussion!
I look forward to visiting your blog (just as soon as I finish this, prepare breakfast for my daughter and get her off to school).
And I, like you, love to write about the crazy things other people do because I'm one of those strange people with a penchant for seeing the absurd in the most everyday of things!
I do hope there's an entry about your ****electricity! Those type of 'Murphy's Law' entries are always a riot!
I suppose I ought to go now. Real life is beckoning to me (but I've a blog or two brewing in my head). Again look forward to visiting your site and thank you again for your time.
A bien tot (yeah, I took a few years of French...but that's about as exciting as it gets!)
Cordially,
Avery

Hi Avery...
...I share your views. Not an advert in site on mine!!
antonyjwaller.wordpress.com/
Regards
Antony-
Thank you Antony for taking the time to reply to my comment!
I visited your site and greatly enjoyed it. I hope to visit again and again! I thought your 'the wrong queue' entry was, as we say in my little neck of the woods, a hoot!
I love writing. And blogging is something I like to do when I'm not working on 'the great American novel' (which I hope to actually get published one day!)
As for advertisements...I've got some on mine. But in the near 10 months since I've had my blog up and running I think I've 'made' all of about $40...which isn't even enough for the folks at Google to consider sending me a check for. I check the status every now and again of my 'account' and smile if a penny or two is made but for me, it's not about that. Although my husband would be head over heels if I said, 'look honey, I made money! (But never once has he groaned or complained b/c my site is not a power-house advertising Mecca...and for that I am so grateful).
But enough of that! I've writing to do...fantasy adventure today though there's always a blog brewing in the back of my mind!
Have a great day. And thanks again for taking the time to reply.
Happy blogging to you!
Cordially,
Avery

swathipradeep2,
I'll admit when I first saw this reply I thought 'oh, no...it's someone who's tagged this discussion and is really trying to get me to buy something' but I am glad to say that after having visited each of your sites they were all honest to goodness blogs.
I'll have to check out the recipe on in greater detail as I love to cook! I enjoyed looking at the pictures on your travel blog. I did a double take when I saw the picture of the fruit sign...I said, 'that's not in India!' And sure enough it wasn't.
Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know about your sites and I hope to visit them again in the future.
I hope you'll take a few minutes to visit mine...but I'll warn you...it's not flashy or filled w/pictures. It's just a blog...words from melting pot of ideas in my head!
Here's wishing you a great day!
Cordially,
Avery
