What is your favorite camera?

Me myself haven't owned many cameras, but my current one Olympus E-500 is definitely my fave.

Getting a dslr is a whole new world compared to compact cameras.

  1. My son has a little 20 pound digital camera, we dont really want to give him anyhting else yet
    1. You can get incredible results from cheap compacts. It's all about the photographer.

What I meant with dslr is a whole new world is that I was forced to understand the "rules" with photography with F-stops, shutter speed, ISO, depth of field and all that fun stuff =)
  2. Fuji Finepix S5 Pro hus
  3. I have a Canon PowerShot SD750 which I must admit is totally wasted on me. I should really spend the time to learn more about it and use it to it's full potential, but it's just one of those things that gets put on the back burner.

    One day....
  4. I use my mobile phone to take most of the photos posted on my blog. It does not really yield good quality photos but I'm quite satisfied.
  5. I got my first ever digital camera this year and its a Canon PowerShot A630.
I don't know how to use many of the settings though
  6. My best analogic cameras were stolen last summer (1972 Asahi Pentax Spotmatic was one of my favorites)... now I'm using Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ20 with great Leica's Lens.
    1. They knew what design was back in those days. Those cameras are so beautiful compared to todays.

Wish I could afford Leica glass!
  7. My pocket digicam is: Nikon coolpix 3200 (old one). Another old digicam: Canon D60
  8. Emm... I had an old film camera that already kaput Minolta X700 used to take great picture with it.. but now I am just using a point and shoot.. Nikon Coolpix P1... been surveying a DSLR.. there are so many these days..
  9. I have a JVC something or other (not close by to look at) camcorder. I has a hard drive and a card of some kind I use for the snapshots. That's where my current avatar came from. I probably should learn how to use it better, since I spent about $700 for it.
    1. I so want a camcorder! Would be fun to post videos on youtube (and link to your blog ;))
  10. I use a Canon A540 but I would a Canon Eos400 ^^
  11. I use a Sony A100 dslr. It uses my lenses from my Minolta slr that I have used for many years.
  12. I am sitting here checking the front door every so often for the delivery of my new Canon XTi. I'm not a very good photographer but I make up for it by the sheer quantity of photos I take. I had the Canon Digital Rebel EOS and after 13,000 plus pictures, it finally gave up the ghost. I am really looking forward to learning more. But for me, you'll need a discussion thread for people who need you to use very small words. I hear "aperture" and my brain freezes...

Thanks so much for the invitation to join. What a great idea!

  13. I have like four the fuji finepic, nikon coolp3200, conon A410 (pos though) and a kodak its in the truck not sure what model.

nikon coolp3200 this one my kids left in the rain can you believe it still works! great cam! but my fav is the kodak
    1. I finally know that my old Nikon coolpix 3200 is also water resistant digicam LOL thanks for the info Nicholebeard!
  14. currently i've a sony s600 and a fuji finepix 450. both were fairly inexpensive and both take excellent photos for my needs. the sony is my fave of the 2 but my naughty cat is tantalized by the strap and pulled it off of the counter twice. oh what a wonderful noise your camera makes when it crashes onto a hard floor...or not! evil cat. so, the auto-lens only comes out when the stars are in proper alignment or something now. ugh.

i use point-n-shoot cameras because they've come a LONG way in quality and functionality. mostly i am happy with the results. i do not have a good understanding of the technical stuff but want to learn because such amazing photos come from the dslr cameras. i've come close to buying a dlsr a few times but just could decide on which one to get.
  15. James (my hubby) is currently using a Nikon Coolpix 5000. We bought it about 4 years back but I hardly know how to use it except to point and shoot
  16. I have a Pentax Optio M30. It's OK, but a lot of my picture come out blurry, especially in low light. I don't know if it's the camera, or me. When I take pics for my blog, I will take close to 50 of them, to make sure I have at least one good one to post.
    1. You should check the settings. If you have set it to auto the shutter speed will be high in low-light situations and the photos will become blurry if you don't use a tripod.
    2. erm... jungl, don't you mean "the shutter speed will be low"?
    3. Jos: Of course
  17. I still like to pictures with an old Minolta slr, and I have an older digital cam we are about to replace (which sadly was top of the line 6 years ago - haha).... any suggestions?
    1. If your old Minolta uses the automatic focus (AF not MD) lenses, then they will work on the Sony A100 dslr. She is a beauty, and since they are coming out with a new A700, the A100 is becoming more reasonable to buy. (I don't work for Sony - I just love my camera!)
  18. I am using a Leica M2 from 1966.. and a small digital Minolta G600
  19. I use a 3MP samsung cameraphone. does that count?
    1. yup yup, definitely, at least I'm not the only one using a phone!
  20. I do a lot of my weddings with my NIKON D80 and D70...and still love mt good old SLR NIKON F3, bought in 1974 as a used camera with the whole range of lenses from 15mm to 600mm.
But it's still not the camera what makes the good pictures, right? :-)
  21. I have a Kodak Easyshare c530, a small and compact digital. It is the only one i have, so it is the one i take my pics with.

My ideal cam would be the Andre Agassi, Canon EOS Rebel SLR. If they still make that one? hehe.

Jungl: You take great pics, nice talent u have.
  22. I have a Canon 20D with the original lens 18-55mm and a new Canon 28-200mm lens I just bought. I just sold my Tamron 18-200mm lens. Although it had great range, I had lots of problems with it.
  23. Nikon D50, with the standard lens, 50mm f1.8, and 70-300 D f4-5.6.
  24. Hey though i like photography i am not a pro.Usually my fone doubles up as my cam.I know thats silly but thats how it is.
  25. I use a Canon SLR and Canon DSLR both run of the mill (Rebel) and all of three lenses (although i have an eye on 2 or 3 lenses). But i also use 48 vintage/antique cameras (some of them broken or missing parts) and a box load of plastic/toy/paper/hand made cameras - i like to be surprised.

  26. Just got a Canon Rebel XTi a few months ago, and I love it.
  27. Started out with manual equipment, quickly settling on Nikon (FA and Nikkormat) with pretty decent lens kit. Switched to digital a few years ago and now shoot a Canon A540. Some day I will get a DSLR.
  28. Kodak Easy Share DX6490.. it's a few years old but it does the job pretty good.
  29. I used to use a point and shoot camera.... my fav... then upgrades to an Olympus SLR pre digital days now have a digital Kodak easyshare C310 and another digital olympus.....
  30. I have a Sony Cyber-shot 7.2 mega pixels 3.0x ZOOM DSC-P20 digital still camera. It can shoot video too.
  31. I recently got a Panasonic dmc-fz7 with leica lens, i just love it. I'm feeling like picture everything, i never leave it at home. By the way, as i'm new here, let me tell you that i've discovered great shots, bravo all with a special one to you jungle. I love the way you use light in you shots.
    kind regards,
    The Naked Madhatter
  32. Fuji S9600.

(Did have S9500 but the command dial broke which is a common problem I believe).

I am very happy with it - although it is not really any better than the S9500 it replaced...
  33. Sony Cyber-shot 5.1 mega pixels DSC-W5 digital camera with video.
For the economical price and ease of use, my camera captures great photos
  34. I got an Olympus E-300 about 2 years ago and really like it. Of course I start drooling when I see the newer versions (i.e. E-500), but truthfully it is still more camera than I know how to use. I'll hang on to it until I outgrow it I suppose.

The thing I really like is the way that the camera, (4/3)lenses, and flash all can 'talk' to each other to set an optimum shot when I am too lazy or busy to do manual settings.
    1. Sweet, a fellow Oympian! Never tried the E-300, but have seen several people that like it. Isn't it often referred to as the ghettocam because of it's blocky/ugly look?

I love the 4/3 zuiko lenses! Bought the 11-22mm a couple of months ago and love it to bits!
Also really like the 35mm macro lens. So small, compact and ultra sharp.
  35. Hey Everyone!
I have been shooting for many years now. I just started using the new Canon XTi body. It seems really nice. It has all the fundamental features but what stands out to me is the 10megapixel sensor and the built in sensor cleaner. I use a Canon 24-70mm f2.8L lens. The biggest battle for me these days is getting a grasp on the computer aspect of it all; file managment, understanding Photoshop, etc.
  36. I never had a 'serious' camera until I got into underwater photography. Until then, all I had done was the standard family shots with some inexpensive point-and-shoot camera.

When I got serious about underwater photography, I finally bought (over time) a full line of Nikon submersible camera gear: Nikonos V camera bodies, a full array of Nikkor U/W lenses, Nikon & Ikelite strobes, and a bunch of accessories.

My underwater photography got me interested in taking pictures on land. (Most underwater photographers I've met tell me it was the other way around for them.) I became particularly interested in macro photography.

So, about 10 years ago I got a Nikon N90s and a few Nikkor and Tamron lenses for it. My very favorite is the Nikkor 105mm, which is so sharp that the results just knock me out sometimes -- hairs on insect legs and stuff like that.

I've considered getting a digital camera body (Fuji maybe?) that would accept my Nikkor lenses, esp. my beloved 105mm -- but let's just say there's only so much budget for camera gear in a given space of time, so... still shooting film.

I'm still using a point-and-shoot camera for travel, but at least it's a digital one -- a 5MP Kodak. I've had it for a few years. It's nice and compact and I can get a pretty good result. A better compact digital one is on my wish list, too.

Right now we're in the process of scanning the thousands of slides, prints, and negatives we have accumulated over a lifetime. (We're old, so we do have literally a lifetime's worth stashed away.) Nobody wants to haul out a slide projector to look at photos these days, so we thought it would be a good idea to digitize the lot before they completely deteriorate and put some on line, and burn the rest to CDs/DVDs as an archive.

I've been posting some of the old underwater ones that we've scanned -- the ones that have stories to go with them -- on my new blog, The Right Blue:

    therightblue.com/
  37. im using a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W30..it's recommended to non-proffesional photographer like and offer a lots of features.
  38. I bought my Pentax ME Super in 1991, and I still use it. The thing is a work horse It has a 28-80mm f/3.5; 80-200mm f/4.5; 135mm f/2.8; and a 600mm f/8.
    My automatic 35mm is a Canon EOS Rebel with a 50mm f/1.8; and 80-200mm f/4.5
    I also shoot with a Mamiya C220 6x6, with 80mm lens set.
my website has a blog and photo gallery.

  39. We're a Nikon family. My husband has a D70 (and will be upgrading to a D300 when available). I pick it up from time to time but I have a little Nikon P4 that I keep in my pocket. It takes great pics and mpegs!
  40. hi i am new here i own a conon DSLR 5D i love it ..
  41. I have a few cameras, but I'm still in love with my 25-year-old Pentax K-1000 with automatic absolutely nothing. I use a digital for everyday, but if I care about the results I always default back to that old Pentax.
    1. I love the K-1000! Had one years ago that got stolen. There's one on eBay right now with a 28-70 F3.5 lens for $105! What a great, simple and easy camera. Thanks for the memories.
  42. I used to Cannon A-1 (nFD f1.2 50mm / nFD f2.8 24mm) & Minolta x-700.
but now, all of posted photo by digital at my personal web pages.
  43. I have a D70s and a CoolPix 8400. My main lens is a 60mm Nikkor and I have a few Sigma and other Nikon lenses. I do love Nikons. I financed my gear through picture sales and photo jobs.
  44. Ah, finally. A few free minutes. Ok, I'm in with Jungl, Aussiesync and Wordjunkie (people with obvious class and taste) as a now devout Olympus fan. Recently (about 3 months ago) upgraded from the Fuji S5100 to the Olympus E-510.
Currently only running with 2 lenses, the Zuiko 14-42mm and the 40-150mm. Still trying to get used to almost square pictures (Olympus 4/3ds system), but love the idea of cameras actually designed for the digital age.
Light durable lenses are nice too!
    1. It looks as if Olympus users are almost always really dedicated Olympus fans; an analogy with Apple users springs to mind
  45. hmmmmmmm i generally use my mob phone.
  46. Canon Powershot 550 Digital Elph. *blush*
  47. Canon 20D
  48. I use a Pentax *ist DS (DSLR for colour) and a Pentax MZ-3 (35mm for B/W as I like the grainy negatives for this).
I also dug up my Pentax ME from my parents house recently and will use it for some more B/W work.
  49. How can I miss this conversation?

    I am using Nikon D70S!
  50. We use our Nokia N95 phone with a Carl Weiss lense, not sure if it is any good but seems to do the job!
  51. I just joined up here and saw this group
For the bulk of my photos i use a Canon 400D. I like it because its relatively compact and light and has some really good features for the price. I also like Canon glass, i think they have a great selection and pretty good pricing. I really with the 5D replacement would hurry up and come though!
But i also have an Olympus OM2n and OM10. I really love these (especially the OM2n), and use them when i want the photos to have a particular look. Its fun taking the time to set up a shot and really think about the composition etc. Im just trying to finds more lenses for it, eBay is starting to get expensive!
    cheers
  52. i use a sony DSC-S600 and sometimes my nokia N73 .. can't afford a digital slr at the moment
  53. Canon Powershot & Occasionally; though I don't really consider this a camera, my razr phone. Comes through in a pinch, but calling this a camera is like calling a Pinto a luxury automobile.
    1. LOL at your comment about the Razr phone. I have one, too, and I know exactly what you mean. ;-}
  54. As a main camera I'm using Canon EOS 30D with Canon EF 24-105 f/4L and New Sigma 70mm f/2.8 EX DG Lens. Im still considering buying a light weight point & shoot camera for some report pictures e.g. during driving, cause DSLR is a bit too much to handle, when you have to switch your gears
  55. I use a Canon 20D.
  56. My personal pick is Nikon, but Canon is awesome too. Major difference being that Canon has a faster focus speed. Although I recently upgraded my D70 to a D80 and it seems to me that the D80 focuses as fast as a Canon. I tried them side by side when I was buying. I love this camera it's the perfect balance between product and cost. It took some getting use to the smaller form factor and I was a bit upset about having to buy SD memory to replace my CF, but I do enjoy not having to carry the bigger cards around. I have to say that over all, this is a perfect camera for anyone that wants a professional level product at an affordable price. The only thing missing that I do wish they included is the self cleaning sensor. Oh well, it's not a make it or break it feature.
  57. i was a nikon 601 user but one year ago i've changed to a digital olympus e500 (but if i had left, mobile camera is useful too)
  58. Genek, Nikon and Canon are both great cameras and mostly it's all about which one has more comfortable controls for you(or any other user who tries them up), that's all Nikkor lens are a wee bit cheaper though.
The reason I post this is a scene I witnessed couple of months ago in a store, when a person was choosing a camera brand and salesman was making up some great fairytales about the difference between cameras etc Used 'em both, love 'em both
    1. I agree nanovsky, while there truelly are some functional and feature differences in cameras, it should really come down to what you as the buyer feel comfertable and happy with. Definately never just go on the word of a salesman. Always do your own research.
  59. I used a Nikon D200, recently upgraded from a D100.
  60. Canon 20d (for business), Holga (for fun) and Yashicamat 124 (for enjoyment)

  61. I'm using a Nikon D70s DSLR and a Canon PowerShot G7 PnS.
  62. my first and only beloved camera is canon eos 50 (aka ELAN II in America and the EOS 55 in Japan), a 35 mm SLR. now it's 10 years old!
if i had any chance to buy a new cam i'd prefer canon again.
  63. I have a Digital Rebel XT that I don't use. Maybe this summer, lol.
  64. My main body is a Nikon D200, but I also have a D50 as backup. For film, I've got a Nikon F3HP and a Nikon FM. For point-and-shoot, I have a Canon Powershot SD800IS.
  65. I've got four cameras. Wow. Should I be ashamed to admit that? :-D I've got a Nkon Coolpix 5700 that I need to send in for repairs and hope what's wrong is covered. I can't see out of the eyepiece or on the display so it's just sitting.

I have a Panasonic DMC-LZ3, just a little camera for something simple I can throw in a small purse.

I have the one I'm in love with now, the Fujifilm Finepix S8000fd.

I also have another one that's kind of old and it's around here somewhere but it's rather large and takes one of those Superdisks. I got it when digital cameras were fairly new. One of these days it will probably be a collector's item just because of that disk. :-D
  66. I own and operate a small weekly community newspaper so I needed something portable but also capable of taking fairly decent photos. I've been using an Olympus SP-500UZ which, at 6 MP, is just fine for my use. The 10x optical zoom is good and I'm still learning how to use the macro settings. It's a pretty solid camera.
  67. I've got Nikon D70s which I started to fantasize when my previous old Olympus UZ-570 started to eat memory cards for breakfast.
  68. I used Canon 5D and Pentax k20d. Both great cameras
  69. Nikon D90! Is my second dSLR... my first was a Sony Alpha 200.
    1. I seriously want a D90 I think. Using a D70 now, when I can borrow it, but think for a purchase the D90 is what I'd go with.
  70. I use Canon DSLR 350D/Rebel XT with 55-200 ml Tamron Lens. I like this old one digital camera
  71. Sony A300x(twin lens kit) ^^
  72. Canon 20D
  73. Right now my fav is my Dad's Nikon D70. But I still get some nice photos with my Kodak Z 712 IS Zoom.
  74. Canon Powershot A1100IS
  75. I've just recently purchased a Nikon D40. I'm just a beginner so, I think it works great for me.
  76. I am a newbie and I use Nikon D60
  77. i'am using Nikon D40 with kit lens...the great DSLR for newbie
  78. I actually use a Sony Alpha-350.
  79. all DSLR camera seems to be very good to use.
    I use canon 350D & 400D ... great skin tone.
Nikon D300 ... very good high ISO picture (not too many noise).
Canon 5D ... great color & dynamic range.
  80. I use a kodak easyshare..pretty cool, but I also use my canon at1 with a 300 mm lens..still love that cam, but the easyshare is easier to use and no developing..
  81. I love my little Olympus S320 but now I use a Nikon D5000
  82. Canon D1000 or D450 for newbie, the kit lens 18-55mm pretty good for landscape photography.

    www.flickr.com/photos/steve-valentino/
Lots of photos in my flickr shot with D1000

    fotokotabandung.blogspot.com/
But often give distortion in architectural photography...
  83. Canon 30d and Panasonic FZ28 that I use hiking alot.

    www.timeoutdoors.blogspot.com
  84. i use the canon 50D
it is FAST and not fllframe so have grat benefit of telelensenses doing documentary and locationshoots
  85. After tested my new lens - SIGMA APO 150-500mm - I think that the lens are so important as the camera. I use NIKON D90.
  86. In 1998 I bought my first digicam: a Nikon Coolpix 950 for over $1200.

Then I spent the next decade using it to it's fullest extent, traveling & camping all over California, Baja, & Utah. I even created a enitre web site around my travels & it is my only source of income these days.

Last year my Coolpix finally died, so I bought another used one on ebay for $80 & now the madness continues.
    www.flickr.com/photos/danamite/sets/
  87. I use a Canon A710 IS Digital Camera. It has got a limited manual functions. My experience with this camera has been very good.
