Do you truly believe he is any sort of a new politician? www.stopbarack.blogspot.com

He was going to be. He could still be. The closer he gets to the presidency the more he is under the direct control of those who have the technology and power to make him think what they want him to think.
"Obama [just] cut the cord to the church where he found Jesus Christ, where he was married, where his daughters were baptized--and whose pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, gave him the title of his best-seller, The Audacity of Hope"
Talk about selling your soul to get the presidency... (not that he has a choice, the technologies used to obtain 'soft power' over someone are some of the most advanced in computational and neuro-science today, I am an expert on this technology and have witnessed it's deployment first hand www.imagination-engines.com)

I agree with Michelle pretty much word for word of her first sentence. I do give him credit for not entering too far into dirty politics. He has recently stepped up his aggressive ads against McCain which I was hoping he would refrain from. But from what I can see, he is the freshest type of politician I have ever seen.

I think in terms of a politician he is a filthy slime ball like the rest of them. His rabid supporters (of which I am though not "rabid")keep perpetuating his image as some sort of messianic figure (or to use John McCain's desperation tactic "The one") Unfortunately he cannot hold all of his ideals through the black hole of partisan politics. He has to have sold out somewhere.
However Bbudoyono hit upon the uniqueness of Obama's candidacy. His perception by the international community. Although we may tell ourselves its not a factor, Obama's race has huge implications as far as foreign policy is concerned. Although this sounds racist, doors that would otherwise not be open to the U.S. globally may be available simply because Obama is such a stark shift from the status quo (the recent one being republican, White, anglo-saxon protestant). The race issue may be a symbol to the world that we as a society are progressing, and that we are more open to leave behind our more negative (Bush-like) foreign policy tendencies behind.
That is the most unique thing about his candidacy in my opinion.
