Runners, Runners, Everywhere!

Hey everybody!

How many of you are on Twitter? I'd love to hear how you guys are using Twitter in relation to your sites as well as your running. Whatcha got?

I've been meeting a lot of runners recently on Twitter and have been digging the community. Some folks like @runnershigh have started to encourage people to use #hashtags so you can track topics--pretty neat.

At Hella Sound, we've also just rolled out a new feature that is integrated with Twitter: GoRun = Twitter + Runners: www.hellasound.com/GoRun Come check it out!

  1. I'm a twitterer - I don't use it all that much to promote my blog though, except for autoposting new blog posts to twitter via twitterfeed. I'm at twitter.com/kchealy
  2. Great idea, John! Thanks! I'm already a twitterer (http://twitter/cyberpenguin) & am now following GoRun. ;-)
  3. Thanks guys! Tweet your running posts, runs--have at it and enjoy!
  4. Looks like a great idea John. I'll def check this out...
  5. looks like i've got a bit to learn on twitter
    1. I've gotten pretty hooked on it myself, so let me know if you have any questions.

It's deceptively simple and incredibly flexible. The thing I like about it most is that it's virtually anything you want it to be--simply a way to broadcast links to your blog posts (Seth Godin uses it like this), a way to connect with friends/colleagues while you're out or at conferences, or a sort of free-for-all IM/chat.

It becomes more fun the more people you follow, and the more people follow you; you gain a sort of momentum, if you want to call it that.

GoRun is just one of a billion things you can do with the API. I might evolve it if an idea strikes me (or someone offers suggestions!).

There are also search tools that people have built. Check out summize, for example, with this search that will be near and dear to your heart:
      summize.com/search?q=hundredpushups.com

      Fun stuff.
    2. thanks for the info hellasound. like the summize.com link
  6. I use a hashtag to track my running tweets... its pretty easy. Follow @hashtags and then start using #runlog to keep track of your running.
    1. Here is a more in depth look at tagging in Twitter
    2. hey crossn81 - is there a link missing?
    3. Weird. Thanks for pointing that out Steve. I coded it in, but I guess it didn't like that! Let's try this again: www.teamcrossworld.com/running/2008/twitter-tagging/

      Hopefully that will work.
  7. nice hack crossn81 - i'll have to try that later!

    thanks for sharing

Thanks Tim for the good idea!
  11. I'm on Twitter at twitter.com/smthng. I already follow a fair chunk of folks I see on here. I'll give the #hashlog a shot... seems like a good idea and good way to keep track of who's doing what.
