In an effort to reduce spam, the following rule has been put into effect:

Please note that anyone who spams this discussion group will be permanently BANNED from future participation in this group. Spam includes unrelated promotions of any kind (including website & product advertisements).

Also, anyone who continually attempts to publish/broadcast blatantly unrelated material, topics, & comments will be booted from the group.

Given the amount of spam that's been posted here (especially over the past several months), the admins of this group might have to consider changing our membership to a closed discussion group, particularly if members are finding it difficult to comply with the above rules. It's really not something we want to do, so let's all keep this group's membership open to all by complying with some very simple guidelines.
The intended purpose of this specific AdRoll community is to more effectively target like-minded individuals who are interested in anything & everything running-related.

I'm posting because I have a specific question, but I guess this could be a good place for general questions as well.

My questions is whether many of you deal with side aches when you run? I find that a get them fairly frequently. I don't get one every time I run, but maybe 2 out of 5 times. They are almost always on the right side, and they often get bad enough that I have to stop.

They are never predictable, sometimes coming after 1.5 miles, sometimes after a few blocks. It's frustrating, because my body isn't tired. I could run further, if not for the pain.

I always try to drink a lot of water throughout the day when I run, so I don't think it's dehydration.

Does anyone else get these, and what do you do? Any thoughts would be welcomed!

Ryan Song, founder of RunYourCity.com, is looking for runners to submit their blogs to his recently launched web site. He's also in the process of building a very interesting database of running cities.

Hi everyone!
I used to be a very fit runner (between 20-40 miles per week for 3 years) then a few months ago, shortly after I had been feeling at my fittest I had two bouts of bad back pain. Both the osteopath and the doctor thought it might be from hill running in Richmond Park and advised me to stop. I haven't been able to get back(!) into it and I'm missing it hugely :-( (so is my fitness). Has anyone had a similar experience and how did you resolve it? Any tips greatly appreciated!

Thanks! :-)

How many of you are on Twitter? I'd love to hear how you guys are using Twitter in relation to your sites as well as your running. Whatcha got?

I've been meeting a lot of runners recently on Twitter and have been digging the community. Some folks like @runnershigh have started to encourage people to use #hashtags so you can track topics--pretty neat.

At Hella Sound, we've also just rolled out a new feature that is integrated with Twitter: GoRun = Twitter + Runners: http://www.hellasound.com/GoRun Come check it out!

As I was creating that last discussion thread about favorite places to buy running sneakers, it occurred to me that it would be useful for us to have a separate discussion thread for sharing our favorite online shopping resources for purchasing general running apparel products. So, here it is!

Please only mention online stores that you have personally tried, or at the very least, have been highly recommended to you by another runner.

OK, I'll start first:
http://altrec.com (Their customer service is excellent & they had a good range of high-quality products & brands.)
http://backcountry.com (Bought Smartwool socks here.)
http://campmor.com (Bought multiple items here. Great prices, quality products.)
http://essentialapparel.com (Bought Smartwool socks here.)
http://holabirdsports.com (Great prices!)
http://nike.com (Yes, they probably charge too much for their running apparel, but I'll still buy their running sneakers, because they feel the best on my feet!)
http://runworldwide.com (Good products, but they need to get their act together with their customer service. They also have good sales from time to time, if you can put up with their sub-par customer service & poor online/print catalog product descriptions! ;-) You can read my review of their company & others, at http://seecoreyrun.blogspot.com/2007/11/running-apparel-tip-5-review-of-online.html.)
http://sierratradingpost.com (I've purchased several items here & have been really happy with my purchases thus far.)
http://sockcompany.com (Bought Smartwool socks here. Yes, I like this brand of socks! ;-) )
http://target.com (Bought Champion C9 apparel here. I absolutely LOVE C9, & now so do many of my family members & friends as well, after I introduced them to it! ;-) Well-priced & surprisingly sturdy!)

And lastly & probably most surprisingly:
http://amazon.com (Bought various sports-related items through their 3rd party vendors, including, yes, you guessed it, Smartwool socks! 8-) )

Also, here are some good online retailers, in which I've had positive buying experiences in their store locations, but have yet to purchase items from their online store:
http://www.patagonia.com
http://rei.com

And here are a few that I haven't bought from yet, but have gotten good reviews:
http://www.exofficio.com (I did buy one ExOfficio item from REI, which I really liked, but have never bought directly from their online store.)
