1. Use www.blogsearch.google.com + keywords - will return only blogs.
Find blogs with high authority and activity (i.e. other comments)

2. Use Google News Alerts. (http://www.google.com/alerts) - select blogs, as it
happens, create 5 different keyword searches – to have Google feed you news as
it happens on other blogs.

Respond by commenting on that blog as soon as possible - be among the first
because other visitors will see your comments and follow your link.
Put comments on your own blog – will be current and relevant to the new event.
Comments are an integral part of the blogging community process.

Leave direct link to your site within your comment - or trackback.
. Locate 5-10 active blogs in your subject area to develop relationships with.
www.feedburner.com - will give you all stats of feeds.

When you get 1000 feed subscribers use the feedburner icon code to show off on
your blog. Makes visitors more comfortable to subscribe i.e. they are going
with the crowd.
When you comment - you must have an opinion. Soft, cuddly comment is of no use
- boring.
Do it every day - maybe 30 mins. Use cPanel raw data to see which blogs are
sending most traffic.
When you find a blog sending >25 visitors/day – create and adtracker to use in
your comments on that blog to see what visitors who follow the link to your site
are doing when they arrive.
When you find you are generating traffic from another blog - What are you doing
on that blog? Can you repeat that success on other blogs?
If you are getting no response then stop – don’t waste your time.
Commenting on active blogs is one of fastest ways of generating traffic. Active
blog has adsense, product offers etc. - you want to be part of that activity.
If you find your commenting strategy is not effective then:
Blogs you are commenting on are not active enough.
Your comments are not compelling.
After all, the Internet is used by a huge variety of people from all over the world, each in their own way a potential customer.

Formerly, going through the Internet and finding content relevant to one’s search was simple; only a few websites were up and running online. These days, however, the Internet is a deluge of content in all shapes and sizes, with people of various age groups, backgrounds, and geographic locations, generating their own online publications and content. Therefore, customers rely greatly on various tools made available to them to simplify their lives.

the five of the terms that you likely hear on a daily basis, but may not fully understand.

* Algorithm -- Algorithm is really just a fancy word for "formula."

Whenever one of the search engines ranks your site, it uses this formula to figure out how relevant your site is for people doing the searching.

So the search engine will look at your site's content, your keywords, your inbound links, and so on, and then calculate your position on the search results page.

The more relevant the search engines determine your site to be using the formula, the higher they'll place you on the results page.

Algorithms are top secret, and they're frequently being "tweaked," so it's possible to earn a high ranking, only to suddenly lose it for no apparent reason!

* Page Rank -- Page Rank is calculated by Google, and is a measure of how they value your site.

Page Rank is measured on a scale of 0 to 10, with the average being 3 or 4. To calculate it, Google looks at factors like your content, and the number of one-way links pointing to your site.

The links are an important factor in the calculation. The more other sites consider you to be a good and relevant resource (and therefore link to you), the more Google will think so, too.

To see your (and other sites') page rank, you need to download the Google Toolbar,

* Link popularity -- Most people know what links are, but did you know that some kinds of links can help your search engine placement, while others might actually hurt it?

Take "reciprocal" links, for instance...

If you link to someone's site, and they link back to you, that's considered a reciprocal link... and the search engines do NOT like them.

That's because, at one time, the search engines just looked at the number of sites that linked to you, assuming the more links you had, the better your site was.

Of course, it didn't take people long to start getting as many sites as possible to link to them, no matter whether the sites were relevant or not, just to improve their ranking...

... and the search engines figured out just as quickly that this was going on.

Nowadays, the best link is a one-way link from a relevant website to you.

* Keyword Phrase -- Where we used to talk about keywords, more and more, we're talking about keyword phrases.

This is because, at this stage in the Internet's evolution, so MANY people have already targeted most single words, that there's not much value in going after them anymore.

So when people look for keywords to target now, they look for keyword phrases, which contain 2, 3, 4 (or more) words.

The value of using keyphrases is that you can be much more specific about what your site (or individual pages within the site) are about.

* Site structure -- This refers to the way your website is organized, how the pages are linked together, and how your menu works (some people refer to site structure as the "information architecture").

The structure of your site not only helps your visitors move more freely through the pages, and find the information they're looking for more quickly, it can also help improve your rankings in the search engines.

That's because a well structured site has all of the relevant pages carefully linked together, and the search engines love relevant and related content.

By understanding these five basic concepts, and how they effect your search results, you'll be in a much better position to get start off on the right foot with your optimization efforts.

Google is running an experiment in their search results, apparently shown to a portion of their users. What happens is that on the search results, say for the query dotcomexpert, a link in the top blue bar will read “Show options...”. Click it, and a side bar full of options expands to the left

If you want to try out this experiment yourself, that’s possible. All you need to do is go to google.com and paste the following into the address bar, and hit return – that will set a cookie telling Google you’re taking part in the prototype:

Here are some tips for writing SEO-Friendly content:

1. Don’t use hidden text. This is a tactic used by many black hat SEO artists, and search engines are simply getting smarter at spotting
these. You’ll want to keep things clean.

2.
Use keywords in all ALT tags in images; these are effective ways to get search engine spiders to pay attention

3.
Create keyword dense paragraphs in your first few paragraphs and headers. The first couple of paragraphs offer the most potential for a search engine crawl, but you do need to make sure that these sentences make sense and ‘flow’ with the rest of your article

4.
Keep the website up to date; making sure you are posting new content regularly and frequently will help you develop a strong search engine presence, and also allow any RSS subscribers to take note. Remember that the more visible you are to potential subscribers, the higher the chances of being bookmarked.

5.
Use major keywords inside the H1, H2, H3, Title, Anchor, and META Tags. This will be an element of your web publishing platform and it is very important that you pay attention to headings and sub headings as a result.

6.
Break up the content into multiple pages; remember that most people lose interest after about 400-500 words. You can separate our
content to make it easier to read, simply by adding bullets and spaces as needed.

When I started my e-business, I ask my web-designer friend to
make a site which is really brainstorming. He did me a great
favor and really made an excellent site. My site's design is
fabulous, it's graphics are mind blowing and coding is superb.
But now what? What I seen in the coming days, I am not earning a
single penny because no one is visiting my site.

I think for a while that why all this is happening, then I make a
search on Yahoo and see the first site which is coming on the
top. It doesn't have a good design like mine but still he is
making good money. Then I came to know that the site's design is
meaningless if site's ranking on search engines is not good.

When it comes to search engine every ear just not hears it but
listens it's every aspect and try to locate it's presence in his
site. Well why not it be done as it is the place from where all
of us get our business.

Every search engine has it's own criterion of ranking and it's
clear from the fact that when you do a search on Yahoo or Google
or any other search engines there results vary. Here is the
listing of some of the Top Search Engines and a few noteworthy
points about all of them. Know which engines get you more bangs
for the buck?

Google

Google has increased in popularity tenfold the past several
years. They have gone from beta testing, to becoming the
Internet's largest index of web pages in a very short time. Their
spider, affectionately named "Googlebot", crawls the web and
provides updates to Google's index about once a month.

Google.com began as an academic search engine. Google, by far,
has a very good algorithm of ranking pages returned from a
result, probably one of the main reasons it has become so popular
over the years. Google has several methods which determine page
rank in returned searches.

Yahoo

Yahoo! is one of the oldest web directories and portals on the
Internet today, and the site went live in August of 1994. Yahoo!
is a 100% human edited directory, and provides secondary search
results using Google.

Yahoo! is also one of the largest traffic generators around, as
far as web directories and search engines go. Unfortunately,
however, it is also one of the most difficult to get listed in,
unless of course you pay to submit your site. Even if you pay it
doesn't guarantee you will get listed.

Either way, if you suggest a URL, it is "reviewed" by a Yahoo!
editor, and if approved will appear in the next index update.

AltaVista

Many who have access to web logs may have seen a spider named
'scooter' accessing their pages. Scooter used to be AltaVista's
robot. However, since the Feb 2001 site update, a newer form of
Scooter is now crawling the web. Whichever spider AltaVista uses,
it is one of the largest search engines on the net today, next to
Google.

It will usually take several months for AltaVista to index your
entire site, although the past few months scooter hasn't been
deep crawling too well. Unlike Google, AltaVista will only crawl
and index 1 link deep, so it takes a good amount of time to index
your site depending on how large your site is.

AltaVista gets most of its results from its own index, however
they do pull the top 5 results of each search from Overture
(formerly Goto).

Inktomi

Inktomi's popularity grew several years ago as they powered the
secondary search database that had driven Yahoo. Since then,
Yahoo as switched to using Google as their secondary search and
backend database, however Inktomi is just as popular now, as they
were several years ago, if not more so.

Their spiders are named "Slurp", and different versions of Slurp
crawls the web many different times throughout the month, as
Inktomi powers many sites search results. There isn't much more
to Inktomi then that. Slurp puts heavy weight on Title and
description tags, and will rarely deep crawl a site. Slurp
usually only spider’s pages that are submitted to its index.

Inktomi provides results to a number of sites. Some of these are
America Online, MSN, Hotbot, Looksmart, About, Goto, CNet,
Geocities, NBCi, ICQ and many more.

Lycos

Lycos is one of the oldest search engines on the Internet today,
next to Altavista and Yahoo. Their spider, named "T-Rex", crawls
the web and provides updates to the Lycos index from time to
time. The FAST crawler provides results for Lycos in addition to
its own database.

The Lycos crawler does not weigh META tags too heavily, instead
it relies on its own ranking algorithm to rank pages returned in
results. The URL, META title, text headings, and word frequency
are just a few of the methods Lycos uses to rank pages. Lycos
does support pages with Frame content. However, any page that
isn't at least 75 words in content is not indexed.

Excite

Excite has been around the web for many years now. Much more of a
portal than just simply a search engine, Excite used to be a
fairly popular search engine, until companies such as Google
seemed to have dominated the search engine market. As of
recently, Excite no longer accepts submissions of URL's, and
appears to no longer spider. To get into the Excite search
results, you need to be either listed with Overture or Inktomi.

Looksmart

Getting a listed with Looksmart could mean getting a good amount
of traffic to your site. Looksmart's results appear in many
search engines, including AltaVista, MSN, CNN, and many others.

Looksmart has two options to submit your site. If your site is
generally non-business related, you can submit your site to Zeal
(Looksmart's sister site), or if you are a business, you can pay
a fee to have your site listed. Either method will get you listed
in Looksmart and its partner sites if you are approved.

Once you have submitted your site, and it is approved for listing
it will take up to about 7 days for your site to be listed on
Looksmart and its partner sites.

AOL Search

America Online signed a multiyear pact with Google for Web search
results and accompanying ad-sponsored links, ending relationships
with pay-for-performance service Overture Services and Inktomi,
its algorithmic search provider of nearly three years.

Ok, now you have got a better understanding of search engine’s
game and finally you come to know which search engine is best for
you and which one is leading in today's Internet World. In
nutshell, the thing which every e-entrepreneur wants is Top
Search Engine Ranking. Isn't it right? So take some time to
register with these search engines as soon as possible and watch
the traffic grow.

A solid keyword domain name is the key to establish a strong presence and making the resources of the Internet more reachable. With a great name, it's always easy to reach new and existing clients. Therefore, a number of companies are ready to spend a large amount of money to get hold of and promote a good keyword rich domain name.

Choosing a keyword domain name can be vital to the success of a website. In order to take advantage of search engine traffic, people choose keyword domain. By selecting a domain that is equivalent to a keyword search, websites are able to rank higher for targeted keywords and thus benefit from added traffic and more potential clients. Whether to opt for a brandable domain or a keyword domain is a choice one must make in accordance with their business plan.

Follow these simple rules to maximize the benefit of a keyword domain, accomplish success in directory submissions, and enhance site keyword density:

Structuring

Order the URL (Uniform Resource Locator) in such a manner that more vital keywords are listed before those that are less important. For example, if he target keyword is "money" then money-online. com would be more effectual than online-money. com.

Length

1. A majority of studies confirms that a number of people use two words or more in a search; as a result phrases are very useful.

2. Always stick to two-three keywords, with hyphens in between.

3. A lengthy, complex URL is more likely to be rejected by directory editors’ sites from which one would like to receive links.

Correct English and Must Make Sense

1. In order to execute directory submissions and link popularity campaigns, the URL should be grammatically correct.

2. When examined by an editor, "money-online-white.com" might sound like a less-reliable resource while "white-money-online.com" sounds more justifiable and is less likely to be questioned.

Put together "power words"

In order to create a distinctive domain name that is still available, one way is to add another less important word to the mix. A few examples include: now, top, just, goto, pro, guide, online and find etc.

Avoid using most popular keyword phrases

There is intense competition for keywords in the marketplace, so stay away from the most popular keyword phrases. It is impractical to think that a new website could rank number one on a popular phrase like “Shop Online”. A number of well-known companies who have been on the Internet for a few years will have the big advantage of link popularity and click popularity.

Try to register a .com domain

Always use ".com". In case it is a business website, avoid using domains ending with "ru" or "org". At once, one can consider registering a ".net" domain, but as most people are familiar with ".com", it is better to stick to convention.

In addition to the above, an understanding of the domain name system (DNS) is also vital while choosing a domain name. The DNS is set up to make regular words map to IP (Internet Protocol) addresses. In order to connect all computers on the Internet, an IP address is used by networks. A domain name can be up to sixty-three characters, comprising of letters, numbers, or the dash symbol. For example, in the world of computer networking, the web address fishing. com becomes the IP address 124.133.1.1. However, it's the domain name that people around the world use when looking for Web sites or sending an e-mail.

Finally, it is very important to choose a keyword phrase very carefully. This can be considered as one of the most critical decisions one will make regarding the success or failure of a website. One must identify the exact phrase that searchers will use to find a website. The more targeted the campaign is, the more increase in sales will be achieved.

If you have been unsuccessfully trying to get listed in Google or just hitting roadblocks when trying to get more of your pages listed in Google, then you need to read this short article. I am about to reveal a simple SEO secret that can save you a lot of time, money and effort.

Google has a preferred search submission format that it actually asks webmasters to use, It's called a Google SiteMap.

Admittedly, creating and using XML is no easy task for anyone who is non-technical or inexperienced with web coding, however there is a site or two on the web that can actually help you create an XML sitemap and then submit it to Google so that this venerable search engine can crawl your previously unknown web site and get you listed.

Of course there are no guarantees that your site will get high ranks or that it will meet Google's guidelines for inclusion, so be sure to make sure that your site is properly optimized and meets their guidelines before using these tools.

Before I reveal these tools and show you where to go to find out how to use them, let's take a look at the basics.

XML (Extensible Markup Language) is a special document formatted created to allow communication between applications and also between organizations. XML is a practical system that structurally defines the format and composition of intricate documents and data such as invoices, news feeds, inventory reports, catalog listings and other complex documents. A seasoned programmer who understands XML can easily create XML applications that know how to pull data from XML sources and then format it for presentation to end users.

In the case of Google, this same XML data format can be used to define your site's pages and their position in relation to each other. So for example, your "about_us.html" page is usually connected only one click away from your "index.html" page. When used in this manner to define pages and their positions we are creating what is commonly known as a sitemap.

Google says in the own words, "Google Sitemaps is an easy way for you to help improve your coverage in the Google index. It's a collaborative crawling system that enables you to communicate directly with Google to keep us informed of all your web pages, and when you make changes to these pages."

So in essence, Google is asking us to help them index the web by using this simple technique that will no doubt become a major help to struggling webmasters everywhere.

Google, by the way, will accept simple text file based sitemaps. Please consult their site for more information.

How to get your sitemap indexed.

Once your sitemap has been created and uploaded to the main directory of your web site, simply use this URL to submit it:

www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/ping?sitemap=sitemap_url

Just replace the parameter, "sitemap_url" with the actual URL of your sitemap. Example:

www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/ping?sitemap=http://www.mywebsiteabc.com/
sitemap.xml

You can also open a Google account before submitting to make sure that you can actually track your submission to check your sitemap status.

https://www.google.com/accounts/NewAccount

I promised to reveal the tools used to facilitate the creation of XML sitemaps and here they are...

The Tools Revealed:

SiteMapspal:

Use this Google recommended online tool to generate a Google friendly xml sitemap that you can simple cut/paste and then upload to your site. Simply provide your site URL and select a few optional settings and with one-click ease you will have a sitemap, ready to go.

http://www.sitemapspal.com/

Google SiteMap Generator:

Provided by Google themselves, this is not for the faint of heart, it requires some knowledge of working with Python scripts (a web coding format) and will requires installation on your site.

https://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/docs/en/sitemap-generator.html

SiteMap Validator:

Use this Google recommended tool to validate your sitemap for accuracy.

At present Google is the leading worldwide search engine, it supports multiple languages and has one of the most sophisticated search engine algorithms around. If you bear in mind Google's unprecedented popularity and simplicity you will see that your site needs to master its rankings for your particular key phrases, this will usual mean that other search engines catch on to your website with similiar positionings. It isnt easy to understand such a complex system but you need to master it to give your site an edge in an increasingly demanding market.

Google is a mystery as far as search engine theories go, you essentially have to try and understand what makes one site rank better than another. Although the forementioned algorithms are constantly changing Google themselves have shown link backs play a large roll in a search engines view of any web page, in order to do well a website needs to have links from other sites directly to it. Not only that the websites that link to it are usually respected by search engines themselves. PageRank is google's own measure of a website, there is much speculation on how it is composed but a key factor is proven to be back links, below is a scale that is widely believed to be the backbone of how it judges your website. The amount of PageRank distributed around the internet is believed average at 1 for every website, thats why we begin this at PageRank 2.

PR 2 = 0-6 Link backs

PR 3 = 6-60 Link backs

PR 4 = 60-600 Link backs

PR 5 = 600-6000 Link backs

PR 6 = 6000-60000 Link backs

PR 7 = 60000-600000 Link backs

PR 8 = 600000-6000000 Link backs

PR 9 = 6000000-60000000 Link backs

PR 10 = 60000000-600000000 Link backs

We used a base number of 6 for this example although it is disputed whether it could be 5 or lower. The amount of back links your website recieves plays a large role within your search engine positioning but a strong anchor text and title tag for your links is also key to success, you can see how to do this as demonstrated below.

a href="http://www.linkhere" title="Keyword Title Text" Keyword Anchor Text

PageRank analyses more than link backs. External links are known to "leak" page rank from your website, in simple terms - your website can cast one vote against each websites it links to, if these are external links it takes from a pool of PageRank that your website has to offer. It is recommended you either seek recipirocal links from websites you link to or use other methods like javascript to prevent your PageRank from being dispersed from your website.

There are many factors that make blogs much better than normal WebPages including the speed at which blogs are indexed, ability to submit to blog directories & normal directories, pings and track backs. All these little things can help drive more traffic to blogs. Here are 15 popular techniques you can use:

1. Create at least four keyword posts per day. Most of the top blogs such as Boing Boing, Daily Kos, and Instapundit (with literally tens of thousands of visitors per day) publish an average of 30 small 100-150 word posts per day according to "Secrets of the A-list Bloggers: Lots of Short Posts"

2. Submit to My Yahoo! When you submit your own RSS to My Yahoo it is indexed by Yahoo.

3. Submit to Google's Reader. When you submit your own blog RSS to Google's Reader the Google Blog Search will index your site.

4. Add a relevant link directory to your blog and trade links like a demon possessed! Although it may take more time than simply submitting to a search engine one time, this method is perhaps the best way to drive traffic to your site.

5. Use ping sites . Ping your site every time you add a new post.

6. Submit your blog to traditional search engines such as AltaVista, and MSN.

7. Submit your blog to traditional directories

8. Submit to as many RSS Directories and Search Engines as possible.

9. Comment on other blogs. Do not just leave short, lazy comments like "I agree." Leave well thought out replies that will force readers to wonder "who wrote this?"

10. Use track backs. If there is a blog that you refer to or quote and it is highly relevant to your subject, leave a track back. It increases your link popularity and may even score a few interested readers from the linked site.

11. Go offline. Use newspaper ads, public bulletin boards, business cards, even stickers to let as many people as possible know your blog exists.

12. Add a link to your blog in your e-mail signature block.

13. Use Groups. Find a relevant group on Google groups, Yahoo groups, MSN groups or any of the thousands of other FREE group services and find like minded people and talk with them. Make sure to use your blog URL like it is your name.

14. Use Forums. Forums are one of the best places to go for advice. Go to forums and find problems to solve. Make sure you leave your blog name, but be tactful about it; some forums get annoyed with those who selfishly drop a few links to their own site and leave.

15. Tag your website. Tagging is a new idea that has erupted across the web. Sites like Del.icio.us, Technorati and many others have a social feature that allows you to place your article under keywords or "tags" that everyone interested in that tag can see.

# Make a site with a clear hierarchy and text links. Every page should be reachable from at least one static text link.

# Offer a site map to your users with links that point to the important parts of your site. If the site map is larger than 100 or so links, you may want to break the site map into separate pages.

# Create a useful, information-rich site, and write pages that clearly and accurately describe your content.

# Think about the words users would type to find your pages, and make sure that your site actually includes those words within it.

# Try to use text instead of images to display important names, content, or links. The Google crawler doesn't recognize text contained in images.

# Make sure that your elements and alt attributes are descriptive and accurate.

# Check for broken links and correct HTML.

# If you decide to use dynamic pages (i.e., the URL contains a "?" character), be aware that not every search engine spider crawls dynamic pages as well as static pages. It helps to keep the parameters short and the number of them few.

# Keep the links on a given page to a reasonable number (fewer than 100).
