  1. I'd have to agree with you there robin. I haven't read where this has come from though...
    1. "The Dalai Lama, world-revered leader of millions of Buddhists and leader of the Tibetan people, spoke out strongly against discrimination and violence against lesbians and gays during an extraordinary Wednesday, June 11 meeting in San Francisco with lesbian and gay Buddhists, clergy, and human rights activists." (1997)

I'd be curious about that myself, normally he refuses to support something that may infringe upon the rights of others. Buddhism being a philosophy of reducing suffering in the world and all (and oppression tends to cause suffering and is in direct conflict with almost all Buddhist 'lists'). Traditional teachings of Siddhartha Gautama do not even include any reference to sexuality with the exception of one of the 5 precepts (Refrain from sexual misconduct; you shouldn't rape, exploit, etc). It's not in the four noble truths, the 8-fold path, 5 hinderences, 10 non-virtues, etc, ad nausium and so on.
Some more extremist views indicate that sex in general should be avoided, but extremist behaviour is also against traditional teachings and is usually a sign that it has been tacked on well after Siddhartha's death by some 'organized' religious faction with a point to prove.
  2. How has the Dalai Lama excluded people of different sexuality?

From reading the passege presented above, it states, he "opposed violence and discrimination against gays".
  3. yeah actually just read the article and it's clearly the opposite. Although it's against the religion, he's for rights for everyone...this article mentions it's "harmless."
