I'm Andy and I blog a fair amount about community widgets and traffic widgets.
Benefits are most often in the eye of the beholder, the kind of site and the nature of the blogger.-
Andy - that could be said about most things. The value of anything is the perceived value that an individual has for whatever the service or product is. However often times it is possible to identify a real value to a product or service. What if any value is there to having a particular widget on a blog? There are many new ecommerce widgets that feature revenue splits being launched. Unlike some other widgets that offer more of a perceived value these ecommerce widgets may provide real financial benefits to the blogger.

I'm HART aka PetLvr ..
One of the best widgets I've found (that I think is the future) is .. on my PetLvr.com/blog/ under the Blogcatalog widget - there's two of them - by amung.us ... the whos./ and maps./ You just copy the code on any site and don't have to have any special code other than the code itself - it works on any website. The same code can go on any sites. When I created the second widget (maps) it asked me for an ID code that ties in with the first (whos) but, both can still be copied anywhere ... I think that's cool. -

Howdy, I'm Shari and depending upon which blog I am working on, depends upon which widgets I install.
I've just recently started a new blog (Four Country Gals) using a WordPress script, and have added several widgets, including a hefty stats program.
I also use Weather Underground on most of my blogs. Our desert weather can provide y'all lots of entertainment. -

Since my interests are quite varied and time is at a premium, I use widgets like MyBlogLog, BlogCatalog, Bumpzee, and a few others to see who is visiting and connect to those I find interesting. -
I use MyBlogLog, BlogCatalog, Bumpzee, Blogrush, Showoffrankings, and Feedcounter.

Widgets...aaahhhhhhhhh, y'all have to be patient with this blogger...I have "stuff" on my blog, but what's a widget and what's not is beyond me. ;-) If I see it and think I need it, I follow the instructions and stick it on there. Need to clean a BUNCH of stuff off now, though. Too much. Ahhhhhh, decisions, decisions....

I have a blog catalog widget and that is all at the moment. I have a problem that you can put widget code up at one of the widget sites and then someone can use it on their blog or site. I found a realtor in Florida using my widget. The problem I have is that you get no credit back to your site. The widget peeps have their own code and someone would have to go through several clicks to find your site. There is also no passing of page rank back to your site since their is no definable link back.

Blogrush
I had high expectations for this widget, its sleek design and intuitive format I had hoped would be a great way to increase traffic. Unfortunately, the moment I applied any chages to my template, Blogrush malfunctioned, and worse, when I went to update my url, they actually suspended my blog! Support was also atrocious as I never once received a reply to any of my queries.
Perhaps others have been more fortunate.
Otherwise, site-reader and blogcatalog are my favorite and most utilized services.
