Wordpress and Google Adsense

Is it possible to add Google Adsense to your Wordpress blog???
I have an Adsense account but haven't been able to figure out to add it. Tried with the Text widget but no go

Is it even possible

    You are using Wordpress on Wordpress.com - currently they don't support any form of advertising unless you pay them $300 a month for a VIP hosting account.

    People do get away with affiliate links and graphic adverts sometimes, but if you get caught, you can have your account shut down.
