No one can surpass Gov. Blagojevich for pure theater at the moment, but here's a rather ridiculous tale of corruption in NY during Gov. Pataki's tenure: "Dr. Antonia C. Novello, New York’s health commissioner under Gov. George E. Pataki and a former U.S. Surgeon General, turned her staff into her personal servants." www.nytimes.com/2009/01/27/nyregion/27novello.html?partner=permalink&exprod... The piece demonstrates an amazing sense of personal entitlement, which she shares with the Illinois Governor.

I'm pretty sure there are hundreds of people in office all over the place who feel a sense of entitlement. This is probably just the tip o the iceberg.

Another "conservative" nut-job. She's married to a psychologist. Maybe she should ask him to treat her for her shopping problem.

Doesn't the Blagoyevich example show that this is not a "conservative" problem? This particular kind of personal entitlement is nonideological.

I agree, Mark, and I think it's very strange--it seems that this sense of entitlement is inconsistent with the espoused views of someone like Blagojevich. It's easy to say that the espoused views are just the smokescreen to get what he wants, and that makes sense from a theoretical standpoint, but doesn't seem to jive with the execution.

Blagojevich is a different story. You know how those Serbians are. You just can't trust them.
