)

I'll start.
This weather is killing me. Not only is it hot, humid, wet and rainy nasty which is depressing, but if the humidity doesn't go down I will not be able to finish this bike on time
The clear has to go on in humidity of 60% or less, or it won't cure. Which is bad.
I'm supposed to be starting the fender today, but I simply cannot do it if it doesn't stop freaking raining and being so humid!
*shakes fist at mother nature*-
*snicker*
Actually, now that you mention it...our weather pattern here is all messed up. We have been having spring like conditions when it should be summer, summer when it should be fall, very little fall and a shorter winter. When it used to be that we had four very distinct seasons fairly equal in duration and severity.
Sati - it's red and black, for syndicalism, duh! But yeah, the rais is killin' me. And my plants! Everything is moldy and nasty and rotting

I am currently in the process of bankrupcy... which Obama and the Democratic super-majority still haven't reformed(despite those campaign promises)

actually it was parked outside my house. The man that crashed into it was very fishy with his story. He said he had horrible kidney stones and blacked out while driving, but he was well enough to run around all over the place. he also refused to go in an ambulance and just instead went home. I don't know much about kidney stones, but I do know that they hurt like heck and he obviously wasn't hurting too much. I'm just glad nobody was hurt. Truly that is the only thing that matters.

My wife has psychological issues... likely due to her Christianist upbringing
They require medication which leaves her 'out of it' quite a lot-
the "out of it" was there to some degree as long as she has had depressive symptoms. She is on the pills because of panic attacks. I'm hoping to get her into some sort of therapy eventually once our financial situation is more stable. She went a councellor with her mom a while back, but I think that one was a Christianist as well, so it wasn't going to deal with what needed to be

LOLLOL. My husband knows that if I say "we need to talk" it's usually about something very serious, not having to do with our relationship. HE'S the one always going all mushy "we need to talk" on ME
I hate that crap.
We now argue in writing, anyway, so if there's an angry e mail or letter awaiting one of us, that's all we get. It's so much nicer to argue that way

Kaylee, our new baby (she will be 6 months old on July 4th) came down with a nasty sinus infection. Green goopy stuff was coming out of her left eye and of course from her nose. She is so congested that she has to sleep in her car seat, instead of her crib. Poor thing coughs so much that she only sleeps about a hour or two at a time.
But she is learning to share! Myself, my wife and our 16 year old daughter all got it, too. So we are all coughing and hacking around our house these days. The doc has us all on antibiotics, so hopefully we will be back to normal soon.

-
I'm sorry to hear that you guys are sick. there is nothing worse than having your sweet baby get a cold or infection - they just don't know what is going on, only that they don't like it. When Punky would get sick I was armed to the teeth with saline drops and a booger sucker. Man that thing was great
But she is soooooooo adorable!
(*No Anok, you do not want another baby, no baby, no baby.....) -
yes and no. I want the baby, but only on the cute no vomit days. And only if she or he sleeps through the night right away
Actually we want to adopt a child - but not until our housing situation is all finalized or at least figured out. We're in limbo right now, which would work against us in adoption.

I have a long list, but after teaching Voltaire's Candide this week, I think I'll shut up about it. That book kinda puts things in perspective.

Being merely an adjunct who gets paid by the course, I really have to work year round. Summer is good, because I pick up extra courses that regular faculty don't want to teach, because they're busy moving their research forward.
Ooh, but then that brings up a few sore points too. But really I'm happy for the overabundance of work for two months. I never know what the next season will bring. Meanwhile, the search for something more permanent continues and the bills pile up, but I don't need to complain about the job market, do I? It affects us all.) -
Ah, yes I see. There are both pro's and con's to that schedule. Right now is the busy season for us, too - but like you said, you never know what will happen next. I haven't heard from one of my upcoming jobs, so I'm wondering if he's backing out on me
Meh.
At least we're still not paying any rent. Yay for us! -
Yes, yes it is!
But the foreclosure proceedings are starting August 1st. We are now waiting to see what will happen. The lender has decided to try and modify (at least accepting the paperwork) but will start foreclosure regardless. In the meantime, the taxes will be due soon, and it looks like no one is going to pay them, which means the city will take the property from both the owner and the lender, unless someone pays up. From what I'm hearing, lenders who are faced with this problem are simply walking away from the properties, as they do not want to have to pay back taxes plus interest, only to get a house that's upside down anyway.
If that's the case (and that's a big if) we might be able to sneak in the back door and buy the property for the taxes. W00t! That would honestly be our bestest option at the moment. But now it's just a waiting game.
-
I am hoping for the best outcome for us all. Do not feel all alone out there. We are all going through some rough times. We will make it. Believe it and you can achieve it.

Two high points of the day: A quart of blueberries in my farm share, and a bunch of fireflies at dusk. Great season.
-
Mmmmm. I've already gone through several strawberry harvests (the BEST ones I've ever eaten!) and I am no eagerly awaiting my raspberries and blackberries to arrive.
My potato plants have gone berserk, and my cukes look good, as do my squash's and carrots - but my pepper plants are not too fond of all this rain I think.
And I already have tomatoes! -
I know TT has a container garden. Not sure about anyone on the political board, though. I love, love, love it. There is nothing like fresh fruit and vegetables straight from the garden you cultivated.
Depending on where we end up, I plan to add some fruit trees to the mix - and next year I will actually get the watermelons and pumpkins planted, too
I ran out of room this time. (Corn and potatoes take up a lot of room!)

I'm now a Dragoon-ranked fighter in my LARP group. The ranks go like this:
S. Master of Twilight. Nobody is here yet.
A. Vastro. Essentially, the best fighters in the group. Experts in almost any weapon and educators of the lower ranks. Requires at least one year of distinguished membership in the group before you can even go for it. This rank allegedly means "Lord of Mercy," but I've yet to see the etymology.
A-. Guardian of Twilight. Proficient in many weapon types, expert in at least one. Dedication and combat ability are weighed almost equally in determining whether or not one qualifies for this rank.
B+. Guardian. Very proficient with at least two weapon types. With only one exception to date, usually requires 6 months membership.
B. Dragoon. Very proficient with at least one weapon.
B-. Raptor. Proficient with at least one weapon.
C. Wolf. Demonstrates simple strategy, aggression, and technique.
D. Raven. You swing your sword a little, but not effectively.
E. Scarab. You hold your sword. That's pretty much it.
I'm going to improve my swordsmanship to expert level (I'm only a few months away, I think) and then focus on my polearm (halberd, glaive, naginata) technique. I should be a Guardian within two months.
Also, there's going to be a championship tournament this Sunday.

Thanks.
And yeah, of course I'm competing. It's an opportunity to hold a fancy title AND have a say in what games the group plays. The way they're doing it right now is a "Please everyone simultaneously" approach that is full of compromise and monotony. I'm going to have three distinct battlegame types: Melee-favored, Archer-favored, and Magic-favored.
Melee-favored battles will get rid of that silly rule that arrows automatically break weapons. There will be no abilities or character classes. This is to force our archers to not depend on dumb rules.
Archer-favored battles are non-class, non-ability battles where the "arrows break weapons" rule is still in effect. This means that you're basically worthless if your weapon breaks. Furthermore, you may only carry one set of weapons (one sword, one set of two swords, one staff, one polearm, OR one dagger) on you (not counting projectiles). If your weapon is broken, return to the respawn point for 100 seconds and it will regenerate. This is to teach the melee fighters to dodge arrows.
Magic-favored battles are class and ability battles with a twist: Everyone has to play a magic class. If you're a level 5 wizard, you can play as a level 5 wizard. If you're a level 5 barbarian, you're a level 1 wizard, healer, druid, or bard for the game. This will teach people how magic works and force them to learn the rules of the game.
(Magic is a bit dorky, but a lot of teams rely heavily on it and there are a lot of rules associated with it. The magic-favored games should generate some interest in playing a magic class in people who just think "This is nerdy" rather than "This is useful." Learning what everything does will also make games flow smoother.)
I figure with 3 such battle archetypes should teach our players how to fight and win a game where the class archetypes (melee, ranged, magic) have a massive advantage over them. This should make the team stronger.

So, yeah - the counties all around us are flooded out - total damage from all the rain and whatnot but us? We live a stone's throw from a body of water in every direction, and we don't have so much as a puddle.
I kid you not, we live in some freaky little pocket where either nothing happens when all hell is breaking loose elsewhere, or we are getting hammered when everywhere else is experiencing mild, happy weather
