"I think the system basically is sound, I truly do," Bush said. "And I understand there's a lot of nervousness. . . . But the economy is growing, productivity is high, trade is up, people are working. It's not as good as we'd like, but . . . to the extent that we find weakness, we'll move."

I think maybe he's defining "basically sound" as "we still have one."

Yeah, it's a great economy for Bush and his oil buddies!

You know, say what you want about Bush. I'm impressed by his creativity. I mean, look how many times he's found new and exciting ways to give the American public the middle finger. Well, what can you expect from a man who ended a meeting with world leaders at the G8 summit by saying, "Goodbye from the world's biggest polluter."

    Love the cartoons, Sati!!

I wish it really was "goodbye" - as in, out the door, see ya no more, adios, sayonara, that's all she wrote, good-bye Bush!

Sigh. How many days until 1.20.09?

I need to hunt it up but there was a recent editorial in the fairly conservative Financial Times of London that pointed out that while its very hard to work with people who are wrong half the time or lie half the time, it gets easier if they are wrong or lie MOST of the time since there is a negative correlation between their statements as they relate to reality.

They writer went on to point out that the Bush Administration's track record on being right has long since crossed the halfway point when you look at the run up to Iraq, the utter waste of global goodwill via foreign policy following 9/11, WMDs, troop levels needed to secure Iraq, the money needed to fight the war there, and on and on and on...

As a result we should now feel safe paying attention to statements from the Bush administration as long as we know to listen to them with that negative correlation in mind.

Whatever Bush says, there's a very good chance the opposite is true. In fact, I can't remember him ever being right about anything.

He also said 'reefs help fisheries' when promoting his plan for offshore drilling. How did this guy become the leader of the free world?!
    1. satijournal
Well, with all the damage he's done to our country and the world, almost 1 in 3 people still think he's doing a good job! That's pathetic.

I would love to see a poll addressed his approval rate AND at the same time checked on people's knowledge of current events to see if there is a connection between people who do not watch/read the news and people who approve of Bush.
