Can a increase in gas prices be blammed on the media for its constant coverage?

Everyday the media discusses how low gas prices have gone down. If you are like me, I am worried that they could go up again if news of its dropping prices keep being spread around. It was already reported that OPEC was slashing production to balances everything out.
Is it only a matter of time?

It is only a matter of time before gas prices go up. It won't be because of the media though, except to the extent that there is a feedback loop with the general mood of the country. Pessimism about the economy helps gas prices go down. Optimism will spur consumption and send them back up. Personally, I'd rather have a good economy than low gas prices. I also worry that low prices will discourage conservation. Indeed, now would be a good time to phase in gas tax increases, but in small monthly increments so as not to pose undue stress on the economy.

Well, if someone is part of the "Radio Right," where media-bashing is a full-time hobby/sport/profession, then one will probably end up blaming the media for gas prices. And rain.
