Personally - I liked the little wink at the beginning when Palin was talking about tax breaks.
Wooo! Made my Republican heart go a pitter-patter!

She was way out of her depth and unable to answer the vast majority of questions. I'm also a little lost as to how that created no further damage? I didn't have a high opinion of the woman to start but went into this with an open mind...my view of her could now not get any lower and I'd be amazed if I was even close to alone on that.
All the debate proved was that she should of stayed where she was ie: in local politics of a smallish population.

More of the same ... and TONS of question dodging. She did better than I expected, but that's not saying much.

Lets see now, do you want an old fart who can't make up his mind.
one second Obama is a "dangerous choice" for president. Who Biden votes against more than not when it comes to security policy. Then Biden would "be honored to run with McCain" the next he is all for how great Obama is and how right he gets everything?
Or do we want the Most popular Governor in the United states, someone who has already proven that she runs her political office with the people in first place.
I don't know. Someone who changes position every 8 minutes just doesn't seem stable enough for me to want him in the Whitehouse.
Not to mention that he couldn't use his considerable experience to hold his own against the new kid on the block.

Based on the extremely low expectations everyone had for her (including conservatives who pretend otherwise) after she humiliated herself with Katie Couric, she did okay. In other words, she won't be dropping out of the race, which would have been likely had she been nearly as bad as in the Couric interviews.
Based on a more level standard, there's no question that she did very poorly. Biden appeared to be an intelligent adult speaking to intelligent adults. Palin appeared to be that nice lady next door speaking to children and idiots. -
As a politician (take that as you will)- she did well. I think she's learning the ropes. Then again, she did set the bar pretty low for my expectations.
If you haven't already, check out this video of Palin's life as a Disney movie. I LOL'ed:

Edit: I hate that my name is in the word 'maverick' -
I think that she was "schooled" well by her handlers. That does not change the fact that she is a "air head."

Since expectations were so low there was no where else to go but up. With that said if you score her higher than a C- for her performance you're being too generous. As much as she spoke about straight talk I didn't hear anything straight from her unless she was talking about what she's done in Alaska. Quite frankly I didn't want to hear her resume I wanted to hear what she knows about the nation, sadly that appears to be little to nothing. I personally like how she was asked a very direct question about bankrupt Americans and she answered about energy & taxes which makes me think either she has an issue with comprehension or she just doesn't know enough to answer the question. Both are troubling.
I do like that she's a new comer who isn't yet part of the Washington Machine and that's pretty much where it ends.
Also did anyone catch when she called Joe Biden, Obiden? -

I thought Governor Palin was outstanding after watching this portion of her performance. -
Politics board anyone? www.blogcatalog.com/politics/discuss
CNN and CBS polls give it to Biden, though clearly Palin exceeded the public's low expectations: www.blogcatalog.com/politics/discuss/entry/early-polling-biden-takes-debate -
It was better than I expected but her comments made me feel like going to school and chewing bubble gum. I don't know what it is about this election but on the republican side I feel like one is talking down to me and is grandfatherly and the other wants to be my mommy and it's driving me up a wall.

Great comments (p.s.didn't know there was a political page) I thought Palin sounded like a Mom-School Student who has returned to college and is tring to do well. But her lack of depth about American politics, Washington, DC, the issues and their nuances, couldn't be covered up with hokey language and winks.

I thought Sarah Palin did what she does best -- appeal to the conservatives. Considering that many of them were flinching from the McCain ticket, maybe that was what she needed to do.
I thought Biden, however, was the star of the show. He was smart and capable and above all, had a much broader knowledge base than Palin. I think Biden was capable of swaying undecided voters. Palin was not. -
Her unprofessional use of the English language is unnerving, you "betcha."
She can't say "you" instead of "ya" or "yes" instead of "yeah"
And why does she end sentences with the word "also" ??
The wink...that has to stop. So unprofessional. Embarrassing to be honest. -
I was surprised how smooth Palin's answers were after the Katie Couric interviews but they didn't relate directly to the questions. It was like, OK the word education was in that question I'll give my polished 90 second education sound bite. Biden, wanted to give details, but refrained so his windbag reputation would be shot down.
I had a little fun hacking some Palin audio clips into a "Nucular Sarah Palin answers your question oracle" on my geek blog. Check it out if ya like. Wink Wink. Ya don't even have to input the question because Sarah Palin is gonna say what Sarah Palin is gonna say it don't matter whats yer question... ya betcha, also.
