I notice that in addition to calling for MANDATORY health insurance purchasing by individuals, Judd has seen fit to reference CPRights (an activist group comprised of corporate hacks). For those of you unfamiliar with CPRights, here are there four pillars (accompanied by my Palinspeak to English translation in [ ]
)
Choice: "A patient must have the right to choose their own doctor, and must protect a consumer's right to choose the health insurance that best fits their needs and budget."
[The same thing that EVERYONE has said, because they remember the flop back in '93... fricking DUH]
Competition: "Leveling the playing field for doctors, insurers, and consumers will result in healthy competition that drives down costs and increases favorable outcomes. Providers should publicly post their prices so consumers can shop and compare. States should eliminate burdensome regulations so insurance companies can compete equally across state lines."
[We can make healthcare like ENRON, y'all]
Accountability: "Making health care services more accessible, transparent and open through standardized insurance claims forms and equal tax breaks for individuals and companies will control costs by helping consumers and businesses compare 'apples to apples' across the health care spectrum."
["...equal tax breaks for individuals and companies..."]
Personal Responsibility: "Placing responsibility squarely where it belongs, on the shoulders of the patient, will encourage individuals make [sic] to make healthy lifestyle choices. Infusing personal responsibility into health care reform allows us all to maintain our cherished freedom to live our lives without government intrusion."
[We're gonna limit tort damages, when some quack saws off the wrong leg, gets the wrong tests results that convinced him to saw off the leg in the first place, etc... 'cause responsibility should be place squarely on the shoulder of the patient]

I can't grasp why they still are pushing for medical tort "reform" even though the vast majority of the public is against it... o_0

It is far from certain that Obama will get the votes required to get the medical reforms through. (As reported by reuters)

Seems like the US may not be ready to for medical reform. Too many vested interests?
Polybore has a horrible feeling that something bad is going to have to happen before medical reforms can happen. It is just possible that the impetus for change will arrive in the Fall when Swine Flu hits, with full effect, the 46 million US citizens without medical insurance.
Bring out the dead. Ding!-
Well, this time we actually have the health care industry feeling the pinch, though, of course, it will try to push terms through like Bush did with prescription drugs, a total joke, just welfare for corporations. We also have companies who would love no longer to have to shoulder the health care burden. Long story short, it is no longer clearly in the interests of all major industries involved to block reform, and many leaders in these industries know it.

"...the 46 million US citizens without medical insurance."
As I explained in the post linked, there aren't 46 million Americans without health coverage...
www.blogcatalog.com/politics/discuss/entry/yavol-herr-burgermeister#comment...
"You asked me to address the "50 million Americans with no health care" - to use a phrase that the leftist media throws around as if it is fact. All the numbers I am about to quote come straight from the United States Census.
In '06, the Census Bureau reported that 46.6 millions people are without health insurance. So, how does this break down?
- Nearly 10 million of the 46.6 million are not even U.S. citizens.
- 17 million live in households that make enough to afford health insurance, but choose not to purchase it.
- 18 million are between the ages of 18 and 34 are in robust health and choose not to purchase it because they feel they do not need it.
- Only 30% of non-elderly Americans who became uninsured, remained so for more than a year.
- Nearly 50% regained health insurance within four months.
I am all for ANY uninsured AMERICANS being covered for health insurance and for them to receive quality health care. Unfortunately socialized, nationalized, single-payer, solidarity type medicine - no matter the name you use - is NOT THE ANSWER."
That fictitious 46 million Americans is being passed around by the media as if it is true. I got my figures straight from the Census Bureau, so there is no dispute. As it stands right now, the Census Bureau is reliable, Obama hasn't gotten control of it yet anyway.
Now, with all that being said, I am NOT saying that there aren't Americans that are without health care. I know there are. I also know that it is a problem that needs to be addressed. All I am saying is that we need to be more precise when these discussions are being held. It is disingenuous to promote lies as is they were facts.

This is insanity.
It isn't individual responsibility if it is individual mandate.
What ever happened to Obama's position on overall choice when he was campaigning anyway?
As I already referenced to in another post...
"...but experience has taught mankind the necessity of auxiliary precautions. - James Madison"
This is sounding more and more like a model after the Massachusettes plan which only turned out to be another Bushism Medicare-like plunder. Sure there will be a choice between public and private and sure it will create competition between public and private insurance...
However, it will only drive up other healthcare costs outside of insurance to make up for the difference in the discounts which someone will eventually have to pay for anyway, namely the taxpayers.
Mark my words! I am sure this will pass. And if it does. A few years down the road when hospital care increases, medical equipment costs increase etc. Government will be back saying the system is wrong and the system must fix it again!
The system can't fix it right in the first place and it will always get it wrong the next time.
Lobbyism, improper regulation, and negligence of anti-trust has created our collusive and uncompetitive market.
This medical issue is ONLY a symptom and popping a pill will only cover up the problem for a period of time. It will not make it go away!
Competition must come back to the economy. Or we will all be doomed to the dependency of government, and our freedoms and liberties will come at the cost!
