I read it briefly and I tend to agree with Biden, though not with Arianna, who I personally think is missing a few screws somewhere, which is why I rarely read her stuff.

Let's see now, He's delivered stump speeches.. Check, He's got an opinion or two about world peace... Check..

He's been dealing with international affairs for a long time..

      Nope, Overqualified.

It's healthy to have opposition to the president on the left, but I find myself incapable of offering such easy answers on Afghanistan, which might very well be worth investing more resources in.

And the whole notion that Biden should resign if he doesn't get his way so that he can trade in his job for a chance at leading an anti-war movement, well, I can't see Biden wanting to go down in flames cheering, "Go Taliban!"

Okay. I get that anti-war sentiment does not amount to a pro-Taliban stance, but this is not the way to have a serious debate about our goals and strategy in Afghanistan.

"might very well be worth investing more resources in."

Lets start by picturing the best possible scenario and ask if it is worth the cost, then work our way backward from there, to what is likely...

That's why I used the word "might" in the bit you quote and mentioned "goals" in my last sentence. The Obama administration has not made this about troop levels so far, because the actual goal in terms of American grand strategy in the region needs to be clarified first.

I hope they get it clarified
