I don't know if fascism is a correct term. Those factors are largely from interests exerting control over the state, rather than the state acting independently, as in totalitarianism.
Some possibly more acurate terms: Neo-Imperialism, Neo-Feudalism, Anarcho-Fascism-
I have to agree with Neo here. It really is the same thing, but I do think the trend is starting to reverse, especially on protected corporate power. Actually, we may finally be seeing especially on numbers 9 & 6 (judging from the tea parties and the new Republican party that seems to be forming out of the old) the rise of Randianism and that political influence that Ayn Rand always believed she'd have long after her death.
EDITED: I would also warn though that 3, 12, and 13 are not so much Fascist as simply political, 1 is not necessarily a bad thing and may be the only good thing about Fascism, and 14 is a danger that surfaces whenever unvigilant regardless of political philosophy. -
Wow... Rand may be popular at tea-party protest, but even her most prolific protege recanted somewhat.

It seems his belief that any John Galts were out there was simply incorrect

Not sure where we are headed, but some loud and angry Americans have some strange ideas about what's best for OUR country.

Even though totalitarianism can disperse itself a little differently than fascism as it can be treated a little more general. They are essentially the same or at least have same roots.
"The notion of Totalitarianism as "total" political power by state was formulated in 1923 by Giovanni Amendola who described Italian Fascism as a system fundamentally different from conventional dictatorships.[4] The term was later assigned a positive meaning in the writings of Giovanni Gentile, Italy’s most prominent philosopher and leading theorist of fascism. He used the term “totalitario” to refer to the structure and goals of the new state." (Wikipedia. Totalitarianism.)
The above is a good reference to that.
Now as to the US becoming fascist? Absolutely not.
Sexism is not rampantly increasing. Rights are not being suppressed though if this is a reference to homosexual marriage then this is closer to rights are not expanding - suppression and stagnation are not the same. The media is not controlled. It is government regulated and also due to lobbying has power itself in influencing the government itself. No government has not replaced unions as a mediator to corporations and workers either. There is much more there too that could be touched upon.
The last I will mention now is the obsession with national security. This in the United States is a reflection of progressive conservatism in regards to foreign relations. Conservatism and how how states interact used to be that they sought power. With conflict in how that theory works rooted from terrorism they have sought new explanations. This is primarily neoconservatism which says now that states want security. Also there is another academic that is trying to change it yet again to "classic neoliberalism" and I'm not even going into the theory because as soon you go "classic neo" your theory is an unintellegible waste of time. -
No polybore does not agree that the US is headed for some kind of totalitarian government.
Having said that it is going to be interesting to see how the US reacts to having a diminishing influence on the world. The US has had an excellent hundred years or so becoming the dominant financial and military country in the World and rightfully so.
However history shows us that power ebbs and flows across the world with time. It is and was unrealistic to expect that the US would and could always be the worlds predominant power.
So the question is how will the US react? Surely not with totalitarianism, however it will have to come to terms with the inevitable shift in power and this is likely to profound consequences for a nation who's population expects the US to, forever, be the most powerful and successful country in the world. -
There is certainly a Fascistic element in this country;

I would be insulted too. Their whole family is loony, esp. their mother. It's sad those two girls are manipulated like crazy - I've seen a picture with both of them wearing smiley face t-shirts which also happen to include the hitler haircut and toothbrush mustaches. They looked as happy as can be in those shirts and I wouldn't be caught dead in one.
