What do you think about Jacki Chan's comments that China's human rights record in Tibet as "ancient history" and that protesters are attention-grabbing contrarians seeking television fame?

Did the Chinese government kidnap a family member? I never thought I would hear such things coming from his mouth. If not, I would suggest that he spend the day with the Dalai Lama. Have him sit next to the Dalai Lama as he hears stories of torture and killing from refugees. Where buddhist children are forced to kill bugs and animals. (Which is against the Buddhist Faith.) Where people are threatened and chased from their homes. Mr. Chan gets to go home whenever he wants, while the Dalai Lama lives in exile. Is that irony or unfortunate?

So china's claims to Hong Kong were/are invalid because their prior claims were ancient ancient history, and china's claim to taiwan is from a period 1949 and alot more tenuous.
So every colony that was established for 50 years or more has an everlasting legitimacy. I would say 50 years is a blink of an eye in historical political struggles.

will tell how bad the rulers of Tibet were -
Jacki himself is seeking attention not to take him only as an actor. People are suffering everyday both mental and physical and how can it be taken as history. It will not be over unless China negotiate with Dalai Lama and bring solution which is acceptable to the people. I think the demand made by Dalai Lama is very reasonable-not total independence, only greater autonomy. I wonder what's the problem with China on that.
