Political Discussions

We'll, I guess I could say "I told ya so," since everyone scoffed when I posted a thread questioning BO's citizenship, and his forged COLB. There were of course, the usual noise makers. Comments like "bogus," "slander," "not a legitimate issue," etc, filled the thread till it was eventually taken down for reasons unexplained.

But, as usual, I was right, as I often am. Something WAS going on. (The COLB has been removed from Obama's smear site by the way.) And now there's a law suit FILED over it, by a Clinton supporter. Just as I had mentioned as an aside in the removed thread, and was called a jerk for mentioning it might have come from Hillary's camp.

Please, feel free to drop your "sincere and heart felt" appologies for doubting me in the thread area below. Especially you, the "jerk" labeler.

P.S. - I've often mentioned that all it requires for this entire fiasco to disappear is for Obama to cough up $15 and make the request, and after a two-three week waiting period, have a live copy in his hand to present to quell any and all speculation.

A couple months after the controversy has been around, he still has yet to do so. If your an Obama supporter, I'd urge him to get this over with. Quickly.

Maybe some nonpartisan fact-checking would be in order here. www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/born_in_the_usa.html

      Thx Mark,

But that's not the issue I was bringing up here. The issue is that there is now a law suit filed and pending. The requests being made by the plaintiff are to stifle Obama's accendency. And it DID NOT come from the GOP, but a Hillary supporter.
    2. johnsblogs42
BTW, thx for the link Mark. That effectively takes care of my (P.S.) above.

I thought you rightwingers were against frivolous, BS lawsuits?
    1. johnsblogs42
I am, and we usually are. Then again, this wingnut ISN'T the one who filed the suit.

Chat with Mr. Berg for his reasonings behind it.
  4. clioandme
Still not clear as to why I should care. Ah, well, maybe if I focus on real issues it will come to me. Or not.
    1. johnsblogs42
I mostly posted this as a "gotcha" for the one who called me a "jerk". Other than that, there's not much else to be concerned with on it. Just wanted a lil' revenge.

      8^)

I'm with Mark, quite unclear as to your point. Maybe you should have posted it to the shoutbox of the one who called you a jerk.
  6. satijournal
Any nut can file a lawsuit. Whether or not it ever goes to trial depends on the evidence, which appears to be rather flimsy.
  7. Wisco
I am, and we usually are.

LOL! That "usually" tells me all I need to know.
  8. MadameX
I think his point was quite clear. It's "nah, nah, nah, nah..."

It's premature and overly optimistic, but hard to miss.

    1) AFter watching HIllary's demise in the primaries - with claws out and teeth bared, I am not surprised that some of her more avid supporters would stoop to this level.

    2) Your post states: Papers were indeed filed late yesterday in Federal Court and the complaint is asking for the court to declare that Barack Hussein Obama is not a US citizen, not a “natural born” citizen and not eligible under the qualifications of the US Constitution to run for the office of President of the United States.

In addition the filing is asking for an expedited discovery process and an injunction that would prevent him from accepting the nomination or from the process of the nomination going forward until if, and or when Barack Hussein Obama provide a certified copy of his Birth Certificate, and if or when he supply a copy of the oath he took to regain his citizenship.

The fact checker given by Mark states:

We beg to differ. FactCheck.org staffers have now seen, touched, examined and photographed the original birth certificate. We conclude that it meets all of the requirements from the State Department for proving U.S. citizenship. Claims that the document lacks a raised seal or a signature are false. We have posted high-resolution photographs of the document as "supporting documents" to this article. Our conclusion: Obama was born in the U.S.A. just as he has always said.

    3) What that means is that the lawsuit is bogus - whether filed or not, and by whom doesn't matter. He is a citizen, has provided teh documentation, and so it is a non issue.
  10. techfun
When you consider that during the primary - if you take them at face value - both Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter were Hillary Clinton supporters so the fact that the suit came from a "Hillary supporter" is fairly irrelevant.
  11. globalgirl
Great link. I remember that thread, John, and you were splattered with epithet's from naysayers.

Excerpts from the recommended blog post: grizzlygroundswell.com/archives/3269

Below are the basic details of the filing:

    Case #08-CV-4083

Plaintiff: PHILIP J. BERG Defendant: BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA, a/k/a BARRY SOETORO, a/k/a BARRY OBAMA , a/k/a BARACK DUNHAM, a/k/a BARRY DUNHAM THE DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL COMMITTEE, THE FEDERAL ELECTION COMMISSION AND DOES 1-50 INCLUSIVE

US District Court, Eastern District of PA 601 Market Street Philadelphia, PA 19106-1797 Ph: 215-597-7704

So now the question is for some… exactly who is Philip J. Berg?

As for Berg, he is no friend of Republicans and he is certainly not a conservative.

Philip J. Berg is a former Deputy Attorney General of Pennsylvania; former candidate for Governor and U.S. Senate; an attorney with offices in Montgomery County, PA and still has an active practice in Philadelphia, PA. He is very well known for his filing of a 9/11 related lawsuit against President Bush and he asked “world leaders” to arrest President Bush and Vice-President Cheney for “global crimes against humanity” in connection with the terror attacks on 9/11.

Whether the guy is a “leftist wing-nut” is not in doubt, but he obviously knows enough about the law to tie up the courts, raise hell and make people’s lives miserable for a while and there is no doubt in my mind that this is one of many “shots across the bow” of the sinking ship that is the “USS NObama” by Hillary Clinton or her supporters.

For anyone who wonders why there is a controversy regarding Barack Obama’s birth right, place of birth or records of his birth in the first place… take a look at this document which is supposedly a certified copy, of his 1961 Certificate of Live Birth and is available on his own campaign website.

    See birth certificate here:
    www.theobamafile.com/_images/ObamaBirthCertificate.jpg

When you do, ask yourself these questions…

    1. If it is real then why does it look “perfect” by 2008 computer standards instead of a document from 1961 that would have to be typed on a typewriter from that era?

    2. If it is real then why does Obama claim that his mother was pregnant with him in November of 1960, which would be ten months before his birth?

    3. If it is real then why was there so much confusion over what birthday he recently celebrated… some of his relatives said it was his 43rd, others said 45th still others said 47th?

    4. Why has not one person from Hawaii come forward from the hospital to verify the event with documents in hand?

    5. Why has the Obama campaign not put this to rest before now?

    6. Where is the seal that certifies the certificate as real?

    7. Why, since this is supposedly a public record, is the certificate number redacted by the Obama campaign on their “Fight the Smears” website?

    8. Why was the candidate in Hawaii for two weeks on “vacation?”

LOL! It's pretty sad when your candidate's so bad that the only hope you have of winning is to disqualify your opponent. This case is about to be laughed out of court and, with it, any chance of a President Hillary or President McCain.
  12. techfun
GlobalGirl, have you read the indepth analysis from FactCheck.org that Mark posted above? - www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/born_in_the_usa.html

Nobody from the Obama ever claimed that the document was an original from 1961. It is a duplicate that Obama requested back in 2007 when it became obvious that he would need it.

Most importantly - to me - is the birth announcement that had been published in the Honolulu Advertiser on Sunday, Aug. 13, 1961.

found by a Pro-Hillary blogger who was looking into the matter.

As far as Philip J. Berg, as you pointed out in your excerpt, he has a long history if using the court system as a platform to make his views very public. That is, of course, his right as an American citizen, but as a tax payer I find it extremely annoying that he can hijack my tax dollars to prop him up on his soapbox.
  13. Wisco
    The plaintiff's a hack:

    Law.com (www.law.com/jsp/article.jsp?id=1122023117263):

Finding that a Pennsylvania lawyer had committed a "laundry list of unethical actions," a federal judge has imposed more than $10,000 in sanctions and ordered the lawyer to complete six hours of ethics training.

U.S. District Judge J. Curtis Joyner's 10-page opinion in Holsworth v. Berg is packed with criticism of the conduct of attorney Philip Berg of Lafayette Hill, Pa.

"Other attorneys should look to Mr. Berg's actions as a blueprint for what not to do when attempting to effectively and honorably perform the duties of the legal profession," Joyner wrote.

"This court has grown weary of Mr. Berg's continuous and brazen disrespect toward this court and his own clients. Mr. Berg's actions ... are an enormous waste of judicial time and resources that this court cannot, in good conscience, allow to go unpunished," Joyner wrote.

In the suit, Berg is accused of legal malpractice by former clients who claim his failure to respond to an ERISA claim against them led to a default judgment...

Pinning your electoral hopes on this guy is nearly equal to accepting doom.

Break out the popcorn. Their eating each other up.
    1. clioandme
I've got a different idea. Why not engage Obama on the issues? There's a shortage of constructive conservative voices here. How about trying to play that role?
    2. Anok
Mark - you're a very funny little dog

you know you can't debate with popcorn shove din your mouth!

The question is, who is BARRY SOETORO, aka Barack Obama?

Was Sen. Barack Obama a citizen of Indonesia at any point in his life?
That question has been circulating on the blogosphere with increased fury the past few days, since a photograph emerged of Obama's school registration papers as a child in Indonesia – the world's most populous Muslim nation – showing the presidential candidate listed as a "Muslim" with "Indonesian" citizenship.

    So very interesting indeed...

If you're gonna cite Corsi's book, then know who you're dealing with, a racist lunatic who also thinks 9/11 was the work of a government conspiracy: www.pamshouseblend.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=6504. (This link is to a blog post, but her source is MediaMatters, which you can double-check for yourself.) The guy's a laughing stock among all serious journalists, no matter what their bias might be, and you can find rebuttals about specific issues (and other lies) on the nonpartisan FactCheck, www.factcheck.org. If such paranoid fantasies are your cup of tea, okay. But you're going to be called on the lies every step of the way. Why not instead engage Obama's candidacy on the issues?
    2. Anok
GG - I know you don't like Obama - but seriously, there is naysaying because the lawsuit - and the claims against Obama - are so far out there you couldn't get Mork and Mindy to reel them back in.

Please, debating policy and pro's/con's of one's political career is great - but denying facts of this magnitude in order to slander your candidate's opponent is willful ignorance.

Then again, if McCain supporters keep on this way the rest of the country, and probably the world, will realize just how batshit crazy his camp really is.
    3. clioandme
So now GG is spreading the love on the main boards. Here's my rebuttal to the nonsense: www.blogcatalog.com/discuss/entry/book-obama-nation-thoughts#comment_545840 Looks like she wasn't much interested in our responses here. Who'd've thunk it?
