So North Carolina is another battleground state? Here's a piece in Politico about how the McCain campaign has to defend itself there: www.politico.com/news/stories/1008/14304.html. And here are some polls, which today show a tie (Obama 1.5% ahead of McCain) : www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/nc/north_carolina_mccain_vs...

Sounds like McCain has been making the same mistake there as he has in Virginia: taking the place for granted. Meanwhile, Obama is doing anything but.

I agree - i think Obama's strategists and he are looking at what happened with Kerry, and what states he'd have to really work in that had previously, or always, been "red states".

McCain just figured he could ride the republican coattails of Bush, and win all the states he did.

    BIG mistake.

As someone who lives in NC I can tell you there is a strong Obama support system in place and he has spent money on radio and print advertising.
