"We've got the price gouging of the private sector and the bureaucracy of the public sector."

Once again we see that when it suits him, Obama says what he wants to support his position.

In June of '06, to offer opposition to Bush's Medicare Drug Plan Obama says that Government intervention would add to the costs and the bureaucracy.

In August of this year he says, "Now, the only thing that I have said is that having a public option in that menu would provide competition for insurance companies to keep them honest."

Hmmm, which is it Mr. President? Does Government have a lot of bureaucracy or does it provide competition? Because I don't see how you can have it both ways.

He likes single payer not single provider. Under the private sector his mom couldn't get it and couldn't afford it, and under single provider she would have been treated as if she was expendable anyway in the condition she was in. This is why he likes the single provider plan. So that every taxpayer can play for his (and other politicians) bureaucratic screw ups.

So your logic is that something that is bureaucratic by definition can't provide competition for private companies? Because unless that is your categorical assessment, there is absolutely no contradiction between these two statements.

It can in theory and competition is good but if you want to know why I am a skeptic look at my comment here:

Skepticism I understand. The OP's attempt to set these two statements up as contradictory in such a way that one of them must be dishonest, not so much.

Just in response I wasn't taking any particular position on this article but for clarifications sake I am now. Above is really only my personal views. As far as government getting involved in the way he suggests makes them a 3rd party buyer. Government pocketbook is very large and with little incentive to reduce costs will not work. This in fact I believe will end up worse than single payer. Coming from a libertarian hopefully those words might be somewhat striking. And yes I would take the government as a single payer over being a 3rd party payer anyday. That will destroy our healthcare system and our economy, both.

"Obama's health care plan will be written by a commitee whose head says he doesn't understand it, passed by a congress that hasn't read it, whose members will be exempt from it, signed by a president who smokes, funded by a treasury chief who evaded his taxes, overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country this is broke"
