   I got the impression from "Audacity of Hope" that despite disagreeing with some of Reagan's policies, he seemed to have admired reagan and his "father knows best quality" during the 80's

   As Obama pointed out, Reagan's legacy lies in the restoration of optimism in America. After Vietnam, Watergate, the Iran hostage crisis, the oil embargo, and disco, the morale of the country was at an historic low and Reagan helped lift us up.
   
   Obama has the same ability to instill optimism. It's a shame our country has become so polarized by fear and hatred that political partisanship has trumped the interest of our country.
