Political Discussions

Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel is someone who I have blogged about before, both here on BC and on my own blog. It has been established that he is a very powerful person when it comes to shaping Obama's views on health care. He has been placed in two very important positions in Obama's staff: health-policy adviser at the Office of Management and Budget and a member of Federal Council on Comparative Effectiveness Research.

His views of medicine are very radical, in fact he has said that physicians take their Hippocratic Oath too seriously.

"Savings, he writes, will require changing how doctors think about their patients: Doctors take the Hippocratic Oath too seriously, "as an imperative to do everything for the patient regardless of the cost or effects on others" (Journal of the American Medical Association, June 18, 2008)."

Here is a chart that shows his feelings on who, based on age, should get medical services.

How many of you would want him to be your mother's or grandmother's doctor?
