Stevens was found guilty today on all seven counts. He wanted a speedy trial before the election. but it looks like that backfired. Kind of amazing that the Bush administration Justice Dept. showed enough backbone to prosecute the case. www.politico.com/news/stories/1008/14819.html

Prison is not a big truck, it's a series of tubes!

I heard this news on NPR today. My first thought was, It couldn't happen to a nicer guy:-P

Then I also heard that he was totally unrepentant, thinks he's been a victim, and intends to stand for re-election. WTF?

Palin gave a thinly veiled push today. It'll be interesting to see how she reacts tomorrow.

One scenario: *If* he could somehow get elected and then resign, she could run for Senate. (In Alaska the governor doesn't appoint one like in many places.)

Still, talking the longer view, I think she has to condemn him. Already has to some extent. She needs to be on the right side of this in four years or whenever.

Little late to be running a write-in campaign. Alaska might be sending a Democrat to the Senate.
