Political Discussions

OK, so it's not the usual place for news for me, but they were doing a political analysis about the election. interestingly enough, they had a republican analyst, a Democratic analyst, and the VP nominee for the Green Party - who is both black, and a woman. (Just saying')

Here is what they were saying:

One, is that it's ashame that there are actually four candidates, but only two get any coverage.

Two, that none of the candidates have addressed the vast majority of the pollution - which they all classify as working class, not middle class. Working class has lower paying jobs, and their needs are not being addressed.

Three, BIG blowout between the Rep, analyst, and the Democratic analyst AND the Green party VP - when the word terrorist was brought up with regards to the negative campaigning, the Republican Analyst decided to bring up taxing the middle class, and was jumped on by BOTH people as being false.

The VP said "Even I know that's not true, and please don't lie about my opponent's voting record" while the republican analyst lost her mind, yelling 'I'm not a liar! I'm not a liar! I'm not a liar! You called me a liar!"

Wow. So if anyone thinks that blacks are voting Obama just because he's black - need to realize that the arguments on shows like BET are just as batshit crazy as they are on BC, only with a moderator, and professional analysts.

And yet, Obama still leads McCain in traditionally republican carrying states.

Oh my.

I think so, I mean, I'm a little confused about the terminology now...

Perhaps they need a consultation from the psychology channel.

Seriously, though, I live in an area that is about 50% african american, 15% latin, and the remainder a smorgasbord of northern europeans and Irishmen. I will say that there is debate across the political spectrum in each demographic. Were you surprised because there was a variety of candidates? Or was it just their speaking style that reminded you of our beloved BC?

I imagine it is very difficult to be representing the right on BET right now. I'm sure it's not the first time that person has been challenged.

Oh, I wasn't surprised, not really (OK, I didn't know they had a news show truth be told, then again I don't' know what's on MTV either, so...) But no, it reminded me of the thread that was started "cult of personality" and this obsession with race in the race.

But other that being challenged by the other guests there, she didn't seem to have underwent a lot of challenges at all from other areas - no more so than any other McCain supporter, that is

There was no booing from the crowd or anything like that. But the debate was heated!
