The Governor has been busily signing unclaimed vehicles and the like to add a few extra $$ to their value at auction. The idea is the garage sale will help go towards the 16 billion or so deficit. They have been using ebay and Craigs List.

Should other states follow this example?

If they do maybe they should try and make the website look a little more professional. Look at the state of that map! Nice use of crayons though.

We now know why it is a garage sale not a yard sale, too many missing persons would turn up.

Funny how the liberal, highest taxed states are always the ones worst off...

Oh well, i guess that means more liberal should be better...

      "liberal, highest taxed states"

got anything to back up that this describes california?

      You mean besides common sense?

You do realize that the governator is a Republican, yes?

And that they voted down the right for gay marriage?
    6. csiunatc
Yeah, do you deny that California is considered a Liberal state?

It's funny, you attribute the whole states direction and results to ONE person. Then in the next breath, you are the first to claim that pinnacle leaders do nothing to earn their money.

State + local taxes (personal) CA ranks number 20

Actually, only parts of CA are the extreme liberal stereotypes that has dubbed CA the "left state".

It's actually not nearly as liberal as people make it out to be - there are huge military towns, and plenty of small towns with people who are not liberal in the least bit - just look at the polls form the Prop 8 debacle.

Just 'coz 'Frisco had a hippy heyday doesn't mean that CA is the most liberal state.

Actually - MA is the most liberal state

Forgot to add - besides the Governator has control of the state's finances and budget - so if it's bankrupt, guess whose responsibility that is?

      Ah yes,

But it isn't his fault since he hasn't beein in office for that long, right. I mean, it took 8 years for Bush to mess this up, so nothing is Obamas fault, we can't expect him to turn it around so fast.

So if that applies to Obama, shouldn't we blame Democrat Gray Davis for this mess?

Well. Here is some tax data on various states. it seems to be above average, but not the highest

Csi the logic is sound, just not the facts. Arny has been in CA around 6 years. That is a little different than 7 months.
    12. csiunatc
Ah yes, and california was in such GREAT shape the last 7 years..

Based on this "sound" logic we'd have to apply their 10 billion deficit in 2003 to Davis, not Arnie..

And it's been less than 6 by the way... it was fall of 2003.

Funny thing about facts is that they tend to stick closely to the truth, not to Democraps wishes.

      Interesting read about this deficit...

It'll be 7 years in a few months - plenty of time to mess up the economy!

A year after Ahhnold took office, his office increased state spending by $34 billion dollars, and ran with said spending for those four years. And the governator vetoed a deficit reduction bill that was passed by the state.

After the bankruptcy scare, they decided it was time to cut the tax deductions they had been giving, and re-adjust the tax brackets which had slid backwards for the last 25 years - to cover the debts that they owed.

Think about this - some of the country's wealthiest Americans live in CA, and some of the biggest corporations call CA home - and CA allegedly has the highest tax brackets - so why are they in trouble?

Becasue of tax exemptions, deductions, incentives and loopholes.

you are picking on 5 years and 9 - 10 months not equalling "around 6 years"?

The sound logic was the fact that a new person is largely not responsible for the current economy. As each month passes, the person become more reasonable for the outcome. You using that logic to say someone who has been in office for 7 months has the same responsibility as someone who has been in the office for AROUND 6 years is just false. You, of course, know that.

OMG that's the worst website I've ever seen LOLLOL

Who colored in the mapquest map? His grandchildren?

    1. polybore
The best you could say is that they are trying to give the impression that they are saving money however they can, even to the extent of making a totally crap map.

However to polybore it just screams California is completely screwed. That web site is their public face to the world for snecks sake. Two minutes on MS paint would have produced a better result.
