In a blow to President Obama and many of his Democratic allies in the health care fight, the plan recommends that there be no federal public option, but rather state or regional public-sponsored networks that would compete with private health plans, according to the summary released today by the Bipartisan Policy Center.

Does something sound a little fishy there? Well, here's the explanation:

The firm that houses two of the three former Senate majority leaders who proposed a comprehensive health care compromise plan on Wednesday has been paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to lobby on behalf of key players in the health care industry. In addition, the company that presented those findings, the Bipartisan Policy Center, counts as a major fundraiser one of the country's largest pharmaceutical companies.

Looks like we dodged a bullet with this SOB Daschle. He was almost Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services.

Or he has changed his tune, since he is no longer a public servant and is back to the big bucks of lobbying.

I think you got it mostly right Mark. It just shows they will say anything to keep their job.

State option is horrible as some states, as we know, like some countries (not ours as a whole) are more corrupt or corruptible than others. It's what happens with our education system, happened with our prison systems and now...hell we might as well do nothing about health care.

Or maybe he can now be chauffeured around in a better vehicle. I mean, he was forced to ride in a domestic limousine! How degrading!
