OK. Looking through previous discussions in this politics section it seems almost all of it is US-based.
I want to start representing UK politics here!
To that end, this board is the place you should come to give your opinions of the Prime Minister Gordon Brown and leader of the opposition David Cameron. Who do you prefer? Who do you want to lead the UK?
Everyone is welcome to comment (not just British) obviously.
I'll post my opinions first.

I might be in a minority here, but I'm firmly a Gordon Brown supporter. He's not perfect by any means, but he's the most qualified to do the job, but more importantly, look at the alternative.
David Cameron - or should I say Chameleon? - is, as my politics teacher put it at the end of my time in college, "A slimy git". The end all of rich toffs who, as a young man, belonged to a club in which they went to posh places, trashed them, and had their parents pay for damages. He and his party have no solid policies and are relying on simply contradicting everything the government says just because they're the opposition - they have no policies for economic recovery, nothing on housing, and, to be honest, I'm not sure of a single policy that they DO have.
And if its a helping hand in the recession you're looking for, all the Conservatives have to offer is George Osbourne! -
I don't know anything about the current crop of British conservatives, though, generally speaking, I'm happier with the Labour candidates. Thing is, though, there hasn't been much difference in terms of foreign policy towards the US, has there? Looking in the other direction, have the conservatives finally reconciled themselves to Europe? Any major differences in terms of EU policy? Sure, domestic politics are huge, but I'm a foreigner, so I think about it this way. I suppose the third question with foreign policy implications would be the parties' take on the economy. Do your conservatives advocate doing nothing, like ours?

Mark,
I'm sure a conservative would say different, then again perhaps not, but to me the Conservatives still have a very hostile view towards the EU. Obviously nothing like as hostile as people like the BNP or UKIP (both minority parties) but they say they want to restructure the EU from within. Taking us in the UK basically to the door of the EU. They see it as eroding our domestic sovereignty and would EVER dream of converting the country to the Euro I don't think.
In terms of view towards the US, David Cameron (Conservative leader) is more or less hooked on your Obama. He loves him, taking on the message of "Change" for his new election campaign. US relations is one rare source of cross-party consensus over here. Everyone knows that if we weren't not your palls then we wouldn't have nearly as good a standing on the world stage as we do at the moment.
Now, in terms of the economy. I have no idea. They haven't really set out their policies, rather they've just disagreed with everything the Labour government does instead...

By the way, you're welcome to read the first in a series of blogs I'm doing on Brown vs. Cameron. It'll be written every week following the Prime Minister Questions session in Parliament every wednesday.
